Advocate's
Warning
IX Webhosting, Kentucky
Reasons we left IX
- 1) Downtime - our sites have been off-line an average of 28% of the total time they were residing at IX.
- 2) Three separate times we have been promised credits for the downtime in, April, June and again in July, all three times we had to "Hop through Hoop after Hoop after Hoop" and have yet to receive the first credit!!
- 3) The absence of a Windows Administrator, I am now and have been for 15 years an Microsoft Partner, I have been awarded many times over by Microsoft and other industry associations for my abilities, so I know, for a fact, what Windows Servers will and will not do! I also know when an "Administrator" is blowing smoke, and telling me that a windows server takes about twenty minutes to re-start is 100% Bull-Crap, Unless the administrator has the configuration totally screwed-up, in which case it is the screwed-up configuration that is taking twenty minutes, Not the "Windows Servers"!! I run Windows Servers here in my office, and several client offices, everyday, I Know how "Windows Servers" Operate. Mine have been up, operating and accessible for in excess of 9 months, without having to re-start, let alone re-started multiple times throughout the day. Being a "Beta Site", we test new software regularly on these same servers, If there was ever a system that required restarting, beta sites would be the ones requiring it. The difference is in the simple fact that Ours Are Configured Correctly!! I Am A QUALIFIED Windows Administrator.
What IX needs to do to improve service
- 1) Get a REAL Windows Administrator!
- 2) Quit lying to your customers, some of us Do have enough mental capacity to realize that you are telling outright lies when we can look on screen at more than four different tickets, issued in different months claiming to have replaced that Exact Same IDE Drive with a "New SCSI Array". In my case, I have six different messages from your administrator, over a four month period, each claiming to have replaced said drive with said array to prevent "Further Data Corruption"!!
- 3) Quit screwing with people's files, you are hired to "House" our files, not replace them with older copies, At Any Time!! If the Data is truly corrupted, Notify the webmaster, We Keep Real, Current, Valid, Back-up copies of All of our sites. When visitors are complaining that the site has old data, before the server farm has notified us about an issue, You have a Serious Problem!!
- Quit Stealing peoples money - Charging former customer's cards after
they have moved their web sites to new hosting companies is "Outright
Theft." Period no other way to explain it nothing else you can call it but
theft!!! You are nothing more than "Common Thieves, Criminals, Liars and
Scam Artists"!!

Ignorance in perfection
Description: Do not Host with IX - the enticing their offers might be.
If you have problems - you really have them with IX.
First step in their service policy is to acknowledge some obscure problem, and tell you that it is being worked on.
After that there are no problems - it's basically all your fault.
We can report numerous timeouts, mail failures, unexplained blacklisting of our IP address, Extensive downtimes with fake explanations - in short - you have been warned - set your website up there on your own risk - but don't complain - for you can't say, you haven't been warned.

Description: Never, ever, ever use this company. Besides the fact that they are incompetent, they are also dishonest. We have been lied to routinely about the causes of their neverending downtime, falsely promised credits, insulted, hung up on, anything and everything but fix the problem.
We are a new venture, a sweat equity company, and have been working 12 and 14 hour days non-stop for two months to build our traffic and business. Every time we do a traffic push our site goes down.
It's one excuse after another, and usually it's the customer's fault. Someone is having a DOS attack, someone is running too much script, Someone didn't give them the correct information. Always someone else. Oh, and then there are the intermittent power failures. Say what? A power failure?? A broken power cord?? Yes, they actually had the nerve to come up with this lame excuse several times now.
The truth is that they absolutely could not care less about their customers.
Does anyone want to talk about joining a class action suit? These lowlifes have us stuck between a rock and a hard place, because we can't afford the downtime to move servers at this early and crucial stage of our business.

Description: I have been using IX webhosting for my website. They requested that I pay for the whole year in advance., and I did so.
In the last five days, I have been trying to edit my website, but that is not working. I logged on their Chat Room five times, every time the operator tells me the problems will be solved soon. But it never did. Then one of their operators suggested that I get a claim ID#, which I did. The response was the same. The problem will be fixed soon. Five days have passed, and the problem is still there, and I am not able to edit my website. What should I do?

Description: To all the IX webhosting customers. I want you guys to use your email account (The one from IX hosting) to send a message to any hotmail or yahoo addresses. Guess what, It never works! Something is so wrong that you can’t send a message? I have tried so many times to contact IX, and they keep saying the same shit… (Server is having some difficulty). I am using that email account for business and now it starts hurting my business because of this. People with hotmail, yahoo, and etc addresses are not receiving any email from me. It is extremely inconvenient….. Try it, you’ll know what I mean.
I’m planning a law suit, please join me if you’re interested.

Description: I have been using IX web hosting only for a day and I'm already outraged about their services.
I logged to the chat for an issue, which they weren't able to resolve so they created a ticket.
In the end the problem was just a simple setting. I can only conclude that the helpdesk doesn't even know their product.
Now my site is already down. Guess what ? Chat helpdesk can't do a thing and I need to create a ticket... again.
The chat helpdesk is driving me nuts. It takes ages before you get an answer. Not really what you expect from an instant messaging system.
Their billing is also a ripoff. They advertise "only x dolaars/month", but in the end they just bill the complete amount of your subscription period, which in my case was unfortunately 2 years.
I'm asling a refund, but I'm afraid I just lost my money.
What can I do ?
