The
previous message was submitted by a salesperson from
Haynes Furniture. After posting this item, I could not contain
my own insight towards "Customer Service". These days there
seems to be Very Few, sales or service persons, who grasp the
concept of the "Customer" or "Service". With that said, Here is
my two cents on this;

Please do not waste your time at Haynes Furniture in
Newport News. We were treated like children, and our time was greatly wasted
in the gallery store. We had to BEG to get someone to help us with our very
large purchase. The woman who had worked with us earlier in the day did not
want to be "bothered" by our presence (she had more important customers who
were "really going to make her money").
When we finally got her to help us (although, by that time we
did not want her help) she would not assist us in getting financed. She
simply refused to help us any further, and at which time she should have
referred us to the credit manager or someone who knew more about credit. I
have worked in credit, and it was apparent she was not experienced.
We left after spending hours there only to be turned away by
someone who just didn't want to try. We went across the street and spent
just as much money as we were planning to at Haynes-- oh well, their loss

Please, do not shop at this store. When we purchased
our furniture, we were promised delivery dates that never happened.
When we finally got our furniture, pieces were missing, not
to mention there was a scratch on it when it was delivered and we called
customer service only for them to tell us they would send a technician out
to fix it. Fix it. Yeah he sanded and painted my $3,000.00 bedroom dresser.
If I wanted "Scratch and Dent" furniture, I would have went to the dump!
We have had several problems with our Living Room furniture
as well. I have to constantly call customer service, they never return my
calls. If you don't call them and keep up with it, you might as well forget
it.
Almost a year later, I am still trying to get a couch that
doesn't have something wrong with it. They keep sending out a technician to
re-upholster my furniture.
Please people, I can tell you what frustration it is to deal
with this company. I will never, ever buy furniture from them again.
I have never had such bad customer service in my life. So
please don't spend your hard earned money at this store. Go to the Roomstore,
their customer service is excellent!!!

I will never Shop at Haynes Furniture
again! Me and my wife have shopped at Haynes in Newport News 3 times now and
each time the service has progressively gotten worse.
The first time things went good the sales person was
knowledgeable and we got everything on time. After that things went straight
down hill!!!
We thought our next experience would be a good one only to
have our bedroom furniture delivered late and in the process have it broken
by the delivery person. When we asked about how long it would take to get a
new dresser brought out to our house we were told at least two weeks, and
this was for an item that was paid for not financed.
Ok, I know you are thinking why go back again, we figured
that one bad experience does not make a store. Well this last time it
did!!!!!! We when to the store to buy a three piece living room set, mind
you I said a three piece living room set, not two!!!
We found the one we liked and asked to get it, then the sales
person said the magic words "this item is not in stock" I hate that, I never
go to the store to buy something if I know it is not there what is the point
of going. Well we decided it would be worth the week to two week wait. Big
mistake!!!!!
When they called to tell us they would be delivering our
furniture, they nicely said that one piece was discolored and they would
have to re-order it, and it would come in about a week later. We have been
waiting for a month for that one piece of furniture to come into the store.
We have complained on the phone to our sales person, the
store manger, consumer service and all we get it the same answer, "it's on
it's way there is nothing we can do but wait for it to come in and call you"
They even offered us a $50.00 gift certificate.
There is nothing in the store for $50.00, what am I going to
do with that. It is 40 days and counting since we brought the furniture set
and still we only have two pieces. Never again will I shop there again, it
is not worth the hassle!!!!!!!

Subject: Store worked there
Description: I worked in haynes customer service for almost 2 years and am here to say that me and my family, who also works at haynes, would not buy there either. customer service is very poor. Sales people make promises they cannot keep and customers are supposed to be happy with this they look at it that if you had a bad experience and say you will not shop there again then that is only until the next sale and you will be back. Sales staff are under more pressure than any other store in the bussiness. sales people ask you to sign the helpful delivery hints and tell you that you are signing that you recieved it when you are really signing that you understand it. there are many issues in it that if you did not read it you will get screwed in the end. then the delivery service damages your furniture and bedding and you cannot get help because the sales person lied in the first place. and then the delivery service will lie by telling you to call cust service and they will replace it. customer service will repair it not replace it. Maurice Klineman has downsized customer service so badly that it is hard to even reach someone in the departmentm much less reach some one who will care about your problem. My father recently spent $5000 on a new furniture and never spent 1 penny at haynes. my recommendation is that if you want good cust service and the best value for your money go somewhere else.

Subject: Company Haynes furniture delivery
Description: Hi, after reading this forum, I decided to add our .02 worth. Haynes is a pain to deal with yes. However, they also have the largest selection and that's their catch point. We bought our living room/den furniture from them 5 years ago, all leather, meaning not cheap. Our problem with them came in on the delivery. We had rented the uhaul truck ,etc for us to deliver ourselves and they told us that night, Uh, sorry, we don't have all the furniture here as promised. We were both livid, but my husband very calmly got the manager and told her to her face, Look, This just isn't our problem. YOU said the furniture would be here, we in good faith got all the arrangements done. YOU will deliver the furniture when it ALL gets here. She tried to say that they could probably deliver that Saturday but didn't have enough trucks. He said Lady, there are UHaul companies all around here, RENT one and get it to my house. Every excuse she tried to make, he came right back with "That's YOUR problem, not mine. YOUR company called MY house and told me my furniture was here. YOU take care of getting it to my house correctly. and by the way, no delivery charge either." After some foot shuffling, they did so. We got our entire leather set that Saturday, they came in and set it up. We don't like them either and try not to shop there.

Subject: Store furniture
Description: My husband and I bought over $3000.00 worth of junk from Haynes furniture. First I had to watch in horror as peoples furniture fell out of the delivery truck. Every single piece of furniture was damaged. Too bad they already had my money. No recourse, just "techs" to come and patch it up. To make matters worse they tracked some kind of rust or stain all over my light carpet and it took weeks for anyone to even agree to come and look at it. I called the president and he was much to busy for me. I regret the day I even stepped foot in that store.

Subject: Company They refuse to correct my credit reports
Description: Back in 1998 i purchased some furniture at Haynes and opened a revolving credit account because I had one year to pay with no interest. I paid off the amount and have since repeatedly requested that they close my account and notify the three credit reporting agencies that they have done so. I recently (2004) acquired my credit reports for review and found that my Haynes account is still open which adversly effects my credit rating. I have made several attempts to notify them by phone but nobody will pick up. I have been left on hold for 30 minutes or more. I would recommend to anyone to steer clear of Haynes. My dealings with them have been very unpleasant and I'll never shop there again.

Subject: Store Haynes Furniture - Satisfied Customer
Description: I read the many complaints against "Haynes Furniture" and although I can appreciate those who have experienced problems, I for one have never experienced those mentioned in the complaints. I recently purchased a Kingsdown mattress and box springs from the Virginia Beach store and my sales person was more than accomodating. He followed up with me after I took delivery to ensure everything was okay and I was happy with my purchase. Two 2 months after I took delivery (and it was delivered as promised), my mattress and box springs went on sale and my sales person adjusted my account. I am not a big fan of Haynes because my taste is more contemporary and they don't offer much in that category AND I think their television advertising is "cheesy" but I felt compelled to comment that not all Haynes customers are dissatisfied. As with any retail establishment, there will be happy AND unhappy customers.

Subject: Company Don't shop at Haynes!!!
Description: Let me tell you something about Haynes furniture. My husband and I went into Haynes to buy bedroom furniture. We found 3 different sets that we liked, all of which were out of stock. Not only were they out of stock, they would take 8 to 12 weeks to come in!! Needless to say, we went somewhere else for the bedroom set. We DID however buy a Kingsdown mattress and boxspring from there. We were promised delivery on a certain date. Our sales girl even called to confirm the delivery date. I took the day off from work....and waited...and waited...and waited. I finally started calling to find out what the problem was. I was told that I wasn't on their schedule for that day. When I asked for a manager, I was told that there wasn't anyone available and given someones voicemail. I got a call back...explained my issue and was told I'd have a call back in 15 minutes. Again...I waited. After about an hour...I called back again. When I told the girl that answered the phone who I was...she said the manager didn't want to speak with me. I asked her for another manager or a home office number...I was told that VA Beach WAS the home office and there were no managers there to speak with me. I hung up and waited another hour...called back again. This time, when I told the girl who I was...she hung up on me. I called back and politely told her that I thought we had been disconnected. Her response was, "no we weren't" and hung up on me again!!!!! I was ready to strangle someone. It wasn't until I had my husband call, that we got anywhere. He's an attorney here in VA Beach and told them that if they didn't fix this issue TODAY...they'd have court documents by Monday. It's sad that that's what it took. They ended up hiring an outside delivery company to deliver it. The mattress came at 10:30 that evening and the delivery driver said that he had an entire truck full of Haynes furniture that needed to be delivered that night. Needless to say, I wouldn't shop at Haynes for a bathmat, let alone furniture. There are too many other companies in this area to waste your money there!

Subject: (Other) EVERYTHING
Description: Where do I begin. 1. Well, it all started about ten or so years ago when my husband was purchasing bedroom furniture. Bought and paid for the furniture, went to customer pick up (to of course pick up the suit) and waited and waited. After quite some time approached the customer service rep only to hear it will be soon. Once again waited and waited. Im talking hours not minutes. Finally called his name only to tell him that the furniture he bought that was in stock was sold to someone else and it would be 6 weeks before it would be back in stock. Ah..... NO WAAY, give us a refund. They would even consider a refund, he was under a "contract". We simply stated that you too, Haynes were under "contract" to deliver me my furniture TODAY. So refund is what we got. 2. In 1997 we purchased a living room set leather, and end tables. We were told anything goes on sale yada yada here is a "price guarantee" just bring it in!!! Brought it in just a week later and because we financed they could not honor it HAAA, well you knew I financed it when I bought it why give us the price guarantee???? OK, so you ask WHY GO BACK, well you get a bigger selection and of course they always have "the biggest sale, or lowerst prices" going on. 3. OK, Carpet 2001, bought a house full of carpet free padding and installation, HA. We bought "the best" haynes had Karistan. Salesperson comes over measures. No problems so far, oh except for we paid for the padding. Installation time rolls around. They get to the house around 1ish and at first seems like they are rolling and things are fine. but it starts getting really late I mean like 10pm and they still have some seaming to do. I beleive that they could have probably gotten wrapped up a whole lot earlier had the installer not spent 2/3 the time on his cell phone. and hour in our bathroom while using the cell phone, my husband even went and bouth them lunch AND dinner so they wouldn't leave. I WAS OVER IT and tired and pregnant, what do ya do. And again why do I go back 4. Oh yea, another bedroom set for us. Jan 2005 Order, great price good quality, will be in stock two weeks, no problem two weeks comes and goes, no call. Call them. Well everything is in stock, well except one piece the footboard to the bed!!!!! How does that happen???? It is a bedroom set??? Will not be in stock for two more months, mind you bought and paid for!!!!!!! and finally last detrimental mistake #5 5. Jan 2005, Buy a bedroom suit for my daughter all is wel and in stock, except for the dresser, no biggie we are in no hurry so we can wait two weeks. Go to pick up what is in stock and lo and behold everything is in stock OH MY GOODNESS for once I say, something good can come of this. Well we get home and inspect our goods, not so good for us the bed dresser and the steps to the bed are badly damaged, the dresser and desk are completely fine. We return, we get a new dresser and bed. We get home and they gave us the WRONG dresser, and the shelves on the bed were damaged. So once again back to haynes I guess three times a charm because finally we have it. HAYNES SUCKS, they have no managers that want to fix it, they want to excuse themselves, What a big clusterF%#@. NEVER AGAIN

Subject: (Other) defective furniture
Description: We purchased a 2 pc set of leather furniture from the DUMP a subsidary of HAYNES FURNITURE in NEWPORT NEWS,VA on March 14,2003. Approximately 3 months later both pieces started separating at the seam in the same identical location. We returned to the DUMP to inform them of the problem because we had purchased a 5 year warranty plan at the time we bought the furniture. I had tried to contact the warranty company(Stainsafe), but was unable to contact anyone. The salesman at the Dump called the warranty co. in my presence and after explaining the problem was told "Claim Denied", without giving any reason. My wife then tried numerous times and finally reached someone after explaining the problem she was told "Claim Denied" because length of time to report the problem had expired. The purchase of the 5 year warranty with Stainsafe should not have a status of reporting time. We have since mid 2003 and into 2004 constantly tried to get some satisfaction in getting the furniture repaired to no avail. We are contacting you to assist us in resolving this matter. We spent over $1700.00 for the furniture which included the warranty purchase price.

Subject: Store Poor Service
Description: My wife bought a two-piece living room set. It's promised for delivery between Wed and Fri of following week. On that Wednesday, we have our old furniture carted away by Salvation Army. We figure one or two days with no furniture is no big deal. Then we call and they say delivery will be another week. Okay, we're patient. Another week goes by. No word or phone call. Wife calls and gets a billing person, who says, the loveseat is in but not the sofa. We ask, how long has it been in? Claims she doesn't know. We ask for partial delivery since we have nothing to sit on. She says can't do until Friday. They charged my credit card 15 days ago, but still haven't delivered. Starting to wonder if I will ever see my sofa. Very disappointed. I do not recommend this company.

Description: Wow--this is amazing. I typed in Haynes Furniture--on a search engine, wanting to view their web site...and all that comes up are complaints--more interesting--I have been to Haynes twice in my lifetime--the last time--w/no intentions whatsoever to buy anything from them. STill had bad taste about them from 5 years earlier. Basically all the complaints I have read--I kind of knew--you just get that feeling when you walk into a Haynes Store. The...."they will tell you anything to get you to buy" feel. It is in the air. The first time in a Haynes Store--Richmond, VA--needed a couch, went with a friend, said we would take it home ourselves--after several hours--the couch was ready! What the heck took so long? Get it home--after only a few months--couch is faded, saggy--looks like crap. I paid over $900 for this!!??? Nevermind years ago while in college I bought a $300 couch from Montgomery Wards--all I could afford at the time--best darn couch I ever bought--lasted thru roommates, parties, 2 dogs and a cat sleeping/hanging out on it--never broke, never faded, kept it's form--Thought I was stepping up when buying from Haynes back in 1997--Nope. Have not been back to buy since. Went to Roomstore today--they did not have what I wanted/style...the sales lady there suggested I go to Haynes??! I told her absolutely not--I explained that the furniture is crap in my opinion, overpriced for the "crap" you get, salespeople not good, liars--again in my opinion....and after this site...lots of people feel the same--the good news?? Now I know The Dump and NC Furniture are part of Haynes--won't shop their either--disappointed a Roomstore employee would tell a customer to go to Haynes that they will have what I am looking for--my response to her--I don't care if they have what I am looking for or not--I will not go to Haynes! But maybe she should--or maybe she used to work there...and was mad I would not be purchasing anything from her today--so she thought she screw me by having me buy something there! Try again!

Subject: Store dissatisfied customer
Description: I, too, got sucked in by Haynes televised promises, and wound up spending a considerable amount of money to furnish my dining and living rooms. I took the morning off from work to wait for the delivery person, only to have them not show up as agreed. I also took time to give the sales person telephone numbers for my brother, who lives and works within 10 minutes of my house and has keys to it; in case the driver came by after I'd gone to work for the afternoon. Needless to say, the furniture didn't arrive and no one called any of the numbers I'd given. I eventually got the furniture a week later. My futon as displayed came with two pillows and two bolsters, all in special order fabric. When I finally got the futon, the bolsters were not included. The driver knew nothing. I went back to the store, where I was told, "the bolsters were for display only, they don't come with the futon." I asked if I could buy the bolsters, but was told, "no." Some genius at Haynes had put them "on display" on another futon, whose upholstery didn't match by any stretch of the imagination. I asked if I could order a set for my futon, and was again told "no, they're for display only." I asked to speak with a manager, who told me "the bolsters are for display only." I practically pleaded with him to let me know the secret whereabouts of this bolster factory, so that I might purchase a set that WENT WITH MY FUTON, but was told "no" yet again. Two of my dining room chairs are falling apart, as is the frame on the futon. I also will never buy from Haynes again.

Subject: Company Typical Haynes Story
Description: This is an old story, but indicative of Haynes. I was shopping for furniture in the Newport News location during the Summer of 2001, getting ready to move to a new apartment. I find a nice oak bedroom suite on clouseout that I purchase. The pieces I purchased included a headboard/footboard, nightstand, chest and armoire. I get a call a week later informing me that the chest and the armoire are no longer available; however, I can replace the chest with the dresser. I await for a call from Haynes to take delivery, as I am moving to Richmond. When I call, I am told that the nightstand is not in, and will not be coming in. I visit the Newport News store, and suddenly, the story has changed - the nightstand is in, and will be delivered the next week. Finally, the furniture is purchased, and I move to Richmond with no hassles. While shopping in the Richmond location (to use a gift certificate they gave me to make good), I find an armoire on display that looks suspiciously like the one I was told was not in stock. Lo and behold, it is the armoire I was told I could not get. Moral of the story: They may have decent furniture and "great" prices, but you more than make up any savings with wasted time.

Description: I came across this page while doing some research. I thought I was the only one with a complaint about Haynes furniture store. I have purchased over $3000.00 worth of furniture after having a fire destroy all my property. My sales associate was extremely attentive to all my needs. After three weeks of failed delivery attempts (NO-Shows on their part), I decided that phone calls alone would not remedy the problem. I returned to Haynes and requested a full refund. I received smug remarks and looks by my sales associate. She didn't want to help me. I had to ask other associates to find the manager. As reluctant as the manager was, I received my refund in two weeks. Add to insult, a large sign posted by customer service stated "all credit card purchases will be refunded within 48 hours." MY credit card purchase was refunded in two weeks. Think about that one.

Subject: Store Bad carpet dealings
Description: Wow- I wish I'd seen this sight before I tried to order from Haynes. I am thoroughly dissatisfied with the service (or lack thereof) I received. I won't go into detail as it would take about 3 pages, but suffice to say, my story is remarkably similar to many of the others here. I ordered carpet from Haynes Outer Banks and was told somone would come to measure the two rooms the following Monday. No show-no calls as of that Wednesday. I called them and was told they were busy and that someone would call the following day. Again- no show no call. After dealing with them for over a week trying to get this mess straightened out and also getting 3 or four different excuses and stories (each person had a different reason as to what was going on yet no one could tell me why they hadn't even tried to call me when they knew there would be delays) This entire time, they had $350.00 of my money and I had two rooms with no carpet-only bare floors! I finally just lost it and told them I wanted a refund and they informed me that I'd need to come in and fill out some paperwork to get my money back. When I showed up, I was told that a refund check had already been mailed a couple days before. Well, here it is two weeks later and I still haven't seen a check. So far, I have gotten two different stories as to the status of my check. Also- I was told one thing and then when I called them on it, they told me that they didn't say that and that I must have "mis-understood" what was said, not just once but several times. My advise- shop elsewhere no matter how good Haynes makes their sales sound. I have since spoken with other people here who have similar stories as well. I will not stop until I get my money back. On a side note- I went to a different local carpet store and had the carpet delivered to my house and installed within a matter of 4 days. Just one more thing- even when they have a "great" sale- still check around because many other store's regular prices beat Haynes sales prices.

Subject: Company Furniture Store
Description: I am writing this complaint to save everyone else from the frustration that I have felt in dealing with Haynes Furniture. Trust me-- do not purchase ANYTHING from this store! Here's my tale of woe: 3 weeks ago I went to Haynes Furniture in Virginia Beach to buy furniture for my new home. I spent close to $2500 -- and paid it all up front. I took home everything that I was in stock, expecting the futon I purchased to be delivered since it was not in stock at the time. I was told they's deliver to my home on Tuesday of the following week, but no one ever showed up. When I finally spoke to someone, they told me I'd have to wait until the next Tuesday (taking yet another day off from work) before my futon would be delivered. When the delivery drivers came, they brought the wrong futon. I called Haynes and they told me (after being transferred umpteen times) that the futon was now out of stock and was on back order for more than three weeks. No matter who I spoke to at customer service, I could never get even an "I'm sorry for your trouble". Instead I got more of a "too-bad" attitude and "there's nothing we can do". Please save yourself the time and money by not shopping at Haynes Furniture!

Description: Well, I was looking for the Haynes Website to check their sofabed products only to stumble upon this website first. After reading just a few of the complaints, I will not shop at Haynes. I remember a couple of years ago my aunt bought a small chair side table. It was during a huge sale. We went at about 8:45pm when the sale was running until 10:00pm. You know their shipping department closed at 8:00pm and refused to let my aunt carry the table to her car to take it home because their shipping department was closed - for this major sale 2 hours before store closing. Only when my aunt and I picked up the table and started heading towards the front door did they allow us to pull around back and pick it up...how stupid.

Subject: Company Don't Buy Furniture Protection Plan
Description: Warning from a fool who purchased the 5 year furniture protection plan from Haynes of Virginia Beach. After only 2 years, all of the piping is coming out of the seat cushions on my $1400 sectional. I was so happy that I bought the "Furniture Protection Plan" until ... my claim was denied! The protection plan people told me to call Haynes because was a manufacturer defect dubbed "fabric failure". When I called Haynes they shrugged it off. "Sorry we can't help you. Try to submit another claim or YOU can call the manufacturer and see if they still have that sectional available. You can purchase the new pieces at cost...." How nice! I can buy another poorly made sectional from you at cost! They took my money & ran. Do not patronize a corporation with such poor customer service and business practices.

Subject: Store Delivery
Description: This is in complaint of the delivery of our bedroom furniture that was purchased from the Richmond Haynes. We are very satisfied with the bedroom furniture we purchase on 2/7/05 but when it came time for delivery, it was a nightmare. My husband and myself own a business in a small town. When we set up a date for delivey, we were told that it would be on the following week and set up a date and an approximate time within the hours of 11:00 and 2:00. They were give specific instructions to please call when they got closer that my husband could meet them at our store outside of Kilmarnock and then let them follow us to our home. I understand that things happen and time schedules are easily gotten behind but we never heard a word from the delivery people until 4:00 on that day. They were close to Kilmarnock and would be leaving shortly. I gave them simple directions to our place of business which was on the way to our home. My husband sat and waited and waited until 5:20 (all this time I might add taking time out of his business schedule-if we did that in our business in a local community, there would be no business. After several calls to Haynes, they could give us no answer as to where the delivery truck was located. No kidding, because cell phones do not work here. Finally at about 5:45, my husband received a call from the delivery men and guess where they were, not at our store but in Wicomico Church where the delivery was to take place with no directions of how to get to the house and no one to let them in if they did have the directions. After my husband asked where they had been and why they didn't call sooner, the guy just said well we didn't have your number. He said well you have it now, where did you get it from. Oh, he finally went down the list of numbers he had but funny thing, the first number on the list was our business number. My husband was furious and wanted to refuse the delivery but I persuaded me to accept it. When it came, he made sure to check over the furniture for scratches but did not realize until I got home that the drawers on the chest of drawers were really stiff and that there were two different dressers. We called the next day to let them know about the delivery mixup and was told it was not Haynes problem that we had to complain to the delivery company which we did and did not even get a response from them much less an apology. The repair man did come out and work on the dresser drawers and was going to send replacements for the other chest of drawers which we have not received yet and it is now 2 months later. Nice furniture, average prices, but poor service. The next time I will not pay extra for delivery and we will see about the extra protection that we paid for. What a joke!!!

Subject: Company financing
Description: I have dealt with Haynes Furniture in the past and will never do business with them again. After paying off my account early, they have messed up my credit. I paid my account off in August of 2004. After numerous calls to the company, and sending several registered letters Haynes financing still has my credit report messed up. When I paid off the account I advsied Haynes both verbally and in writing to close the account. For the next 3 months Haynes continued not only to leave the account open, but charge me interest ($45 a month) on a $0 balance, and then charge me a late fee because I refused to pay. Every time I made numerous phone calls and sent certified letters, and every time Haynes guaranteed me that the account was corrected and I owed nothing. My credit report still shows a past due balance on this account and shows this account as open. Haynes even has the nerve to send me letters telling me about the great sales they are having, always the same great "once in a lifetime" sale. I have again sent certified letters to Haynes, and this time I have also added the credit reporting agencies, the BBB, and have advised all the next step will be to sue Haynes.

Subject: Company Warranty
Description: When I purchased my furniture on 5/24/04 with my mother in tow, we were concerned about damages that may incur from a possible move across country. We were told by the sales person, Dan Houser, that any damages that might ensue would be covered under the “Diamond Supreme Furniture Warranty Program.” I have since moved and there is damage to my furniture. I do not believe all of the damage is from the move itself but from simple use of the furniture. I called the warranty company as soon as I noticed the damage and was told it was not covered. I called Haynes customer service number and was informed that I would need to take up the refund with my sales person. I was also warned that the sales person would probably try to send me back to customer service even though customer service claims that they are unable to assist me. The damage is as follows: The top part of my mirror (Model #09064551030 Brand: 0906) has COMPLETELY detached from the rest of the mirror. It split on the sides and fell off. The back side of the mirror is falling apart. Normally this wouldn’t be a concern but the mirror is completely out of place now and I can now see the lovely masking tape that was used to secure it into place behind the frame. The middle drawer on the 5 drawer chest (Model # 09064551045A Brand: 0906) is splitting in the back where the piece is that slides on to the rail. This split in the wood causes the drawer to stick out and we have difficulty using it. I have particle bored furniture that is holding up better than the $3004.95 worth the furniture I purchased from Hayne’s.

Description: And I thought I was the only one with delivery problems with Haynes in Richmond. Ha! I ordered - or thought I had ordered- bedroom furniture for my daughter. The saleswoman told me that I would receive it in a month. I gave her a downpayment and waited and waited and waited. After waiting two months then three months, I still did not have my furniture. The saleswoman was rude and insulting and said how she would never had told me that I would get my furniture in a month. Well, I would never have ordered it if she had told me otherwise. After four months and numerous phone calls, I told her manager that I had waited long enough and wanted a refund. What a joke. Just remember you get what you pay for.

Subject: Store delivery
Description: I should've read all these claims before I set my foot in Haynes. I bought a set of mattress and box spring in VA Beach store on Memorial Sunday and was told the delivery would be made between 3-7PM Wednesday. OK, here I started waiting, and waiting and waiting.... Finally I began to feel frustrated since the time is getting close to 5 and they promised to call me 1 hour ahead of delivery. So I made phone calls to the delivery time estimate number and a guy answered the phone, with the phone line quality so bad that I could barely hear what he said. At first he said the driver had another household in front of me and my stuff would be delivered around 6. Fine, then I waited again until around 6 there was still no sign of being called. So I called again at around 6:15, this time the guy was like chewing something in his mouth when he talked, he must've said within 45 minutes the stuff would be delivered otherwise it'd be returned to store for the next day delivery. Here we go, I waited till now and it's almost 9:00 at night, I made zillions of more phone calls to this number after 7:00 and nobody ever answered, they don't even care to put a voice notice saying when the service desk is going to be closed. I'll see what their excuses are tomorrow and then put updated information here. Today they don't make the delivery and don't even bother to call and reschedule. I am really angry for wasting so much time waiting on them. First time buying furnitures in this store and I have decided not to buy again from them. If the stuff I get is like other people said being damaged, I'd send out emails to thousands of people on a local E-mailing list to warn them against Haynes.

Description: I'm not surprised by the extensive list of complaints against Haynes. We'll here's another for the list ! Same story, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!! My wife and I purchased a three piece living room set and as always the salesperson is your best friend until they get your money. After that it's back burner time. Anyway we ordered a custom set in Oct.2005 with a delivery / pick up scheduled for Dec.17th. So we called to confirm that Haynes received our furniture from there distributor. Of course they didn't and said it will be Dec 30th. Ok no big deal a few weeks oh well. So we called again on Dec 30 to confirm delivery from distributor. I bet you already know the anwser. That's right no furniture yet. Well we did finally get two of the three pieces in mid January. The third piece was lost in transit. A week later Haynes found the last piece but it will take another month which actually turned into 6 weeks. " Please note that I never mentioned a courtesy call from Haynes" They NEVER ONCE CALLED ME with any sort of update on my order! I did call Mr Steve Gigg several times ( salesperson) and received NO return call. I also spoke to there "Customer Service Center and that was a joke to say the least. BUYER BEWARE !!!!

Description: I purchased a bedroom suit from Haynes Furniture Store. When the furniture arrived, the delivery people set it up and I then checked it out to find it was not the correct one. They did not delivery the chest. The driver asked that I sign the delivery ticket and suggested that I call the store and report the mix-up. I went to the store and reported the problem and they promised to delivery the right one the following week. The delivery truck arrived again, with the same one they delivered the first time. Again, I went to the store to complain, but was tossed around like a hot potato. The man that sold me the bedroom suit was never available and did not return my calls. He never appeared to be concern about his mix-up. II went back to the store to get to the MANAGER of Haynes. I never did see him, but finally spoked to him by phone. He told me the furniture was on a boat from China to the U.S. Well, the boat never did arrive and I never got what I selected. I ended up settling for the first one that was never picked-up. The chest arrived, but the back of it was water damaged with spots. The manager cut off $200.00. I have NEVER experienced the unprofessional manner in which they operated. NEVER once did they say, I'm sorry, let me try to please the customer. Haynes need a crash course in Customer Relations, because they do not have a clue what it means. There are so many managers running around passing the buck. I'ts been an experience. I still have the first bed and never did get the correct one. I'm done with this company.

Description: On 1/21/06 my hustband and i ordered several thousands of dollars worht of furnishings from Haynes Newport News. First there was no one to help us place our order, then the sales rep could not manage to get the system to let us pay in full on the spot after over 2 hours of this we finalised our order. Our first delivery date was the 25th of the same month. Due to ordering a floor model there would be a split delivery by one day! Now the first part of my order came missing my hutch and the floor model( we were expecting that item to be missing) When I called to find out about the next delivery I was told that it would be 2-14-06 before they could get my products into the delivery department. There was a problem with the hutch being broken and they now had a new dresser for me not the floor model. 2-18-06 my hutch was delivered but still no Chest. I called to find out status of the chest to be told that it would be delivered on 2/25/06 a full month after it was ordered as a floor model. I waited all day from 9 am to 1 pm for the delivery. They never called with a problem and never showed to deliver it. I called that afternoon to find out what was going on first I was told that I was not slated for delivery and then told that the Military base had changed the laws and that they were not allowed to deliver to me. ( all that was need was for them to call me from the gate as instructed so that they could have been escorted in) They reschedualed me for 3/4/06. At noon I called to check on the delivery again they could not find my item on a truck and then the same line. I checked with base security and they could have been escoretd if they would have called as previously mentioned. I still have no Chest of drawers ( remember it was a floor model) I can not get a response from Haynes management and I can not seem to get through to the delivery department to arrange for yet another delivery! Description: I purchased a recliner from Haynes Furniture a week ago, it was delivered to my house as promised. After the delivery truck left, when I saw it in my living room with my other furniture, all that came to mind was "Yuck!" It was a great piece of furniture, but the color and style was wrong...completely wrong for my living room. I was not sure about their return policy....and was worried I would be stuck with the recliner. I took the recliner back to Haynes...the customer service rep asked me why I was returning it, and I told him it was just wrong...the wrong color, the wrong style...and had no problem. They took the recliner back and gave me an in store credit, and I picked out other furniture. I think they are a good company to deal with, and I will buy more from them in the future. With all of the complaints on your web site, I felt obligated to tell about my positive experience with Haynes Furniture.

After trying to get her husband a job were I work, I finally got to purchase my stuff. Not a good deal, but not bad either. The store location was the reason I went there. I found this website after the purchase just looking to show my girlfriend what I bought, and no such luck. Well, it has been five months and I am still waiting on a damage piece during delivery on New Years Eve (got to be kidding me, but I knew that may be the only way to get my stuff). The crew noticed one piece was damaged and did not bring it in. Haynes, how do you damage so much stuff? Well, no contact from them yet. I called with no luck. Still waiting. I tried to talk to a manager, but I was just left on hold. They wanted me to leave a message, but it just doesn't seem to have the same effect. I want someone to leave me a message .... "your furniture is on the way. We apoligize for our louzy service". Hopefully someone will read this before they make a purchase like I did. I guess you live and you learn. Description: I am a former employee with Haynes Furniture, who did collections for 3 years, let me tell everyone who reads these complaints, DO NOT APPLY FOR CREDIT WITH HAYNES, THEY WILL RUIN YOUR CREDIT!!! IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN A SWITCH AND BAIT ON CONSUMERS.. A customer will come in thinking and being told by their salesperson that they are getting a no payment no interest acccount for x amount of months or years, when they finally get their furniture and asked to sign the delievery ticket, they don't realize and are not told that the delievery ticket is their real contract, so of course they don't read it, they find out a month later that they have a contract that is full of interest and with monthly payments that has already gone to the collections department, they get calls after calls for payments and in most cases most of the customers haven't even got the first bill, they also don't realize they get an automatic 20.00 late fee been switched to an interest paring account with a 24% interest, and are now being reported as late to the credit agency's. They will distroy your credit, and have not one second thought in doing so. This is called a switch and bait it happens every day and I can't tell you the thousands of customers who have had to hear from the salespeople that they have a no interest account 3 months same as cash, or no payments then to find out their contracts where switched. Haynes has been sued for this once before yet they still do this to everyone each day. I wouldn't purchase the first thing from them and I would advise anyone to shop somewhere with a more honest background. Read the complaints on this page, trust me, each complaint is valid.

Description: On 10/16/2005 we ordered 6 pieces of theatre seating from Haynes. We told the sales person we were building a new house and may not be able to take immediate delivery. She said no problem, they'd store the items. Items arrived in Dec or Jan. In February the sales person called and said if we didn't take delivery by end of February the items would be sent to the Williamsburg distribution warehouse and would probably be damaged, so I called to schedule delivery. The next delivery date in my area was March 2, 2006, so it was set. On 2/28/06 Haynes called and said one of the recliners was damaged and would have to be reordered. My husband said don't delivery until you have it all, but I called back and asked for delivery of the 5 undamaged pieces on next available date (March 16th) because I was afraid other pieces would be damaged while we waited. On 3/16/06 when Haynes arrived they had only 2 pieces of furniture. I called the sales rep and was told no one knew where the rest of the furniture was located. They put me on hold on numerous occasions for up to 55 minutes never to return. The manager would not come to the phone. When I went to the store she said the reason she would not come to the phone was that she was going on vacation the following day and was busy. I asked for a refund and she refused. They finally found the 4 missing recliners (3 broken). They want to scavenger parts from 3 broken recliners to make one whole recliner, order parts for one and reorder one. They say it might take up to 4 months to get the reordered one and don't know when the part will come in for the other. Everytime I call, the operators refuse to let me speak with anyone in a position of authority or the managers refuse to come to the phone. I'm at my wits end and have NEVER been treated so poorly by any company ever.

Description: I recently purchased dining room furniture on 1/26/2007 from the Richmond Haynes store on Hull St. I was told that my side chairs were not at the warehouse but were scheduled to arrive on 02/05/2007. I was okay with that, it gave me a week to clear out my old dining room furture and prepare the space for my delivery. I was told by the saleslady that I would get a call the week of 02/05 to schedule my delivery. By the end of that week, I hadn't received a call so I called the next week and was told that the chairs had not come in yet but they were due to come in soon. So I waited and still no call and no delivery.I called Haynes on 02/22 and spoke with a sales manager who told me that tthe chairs were not going to be in until 03/30/2007. Then she asked if the sales person actually told me I was getting the chairs becuase there were so many open tickets waiting on the chairs. She then asked if I wanted to come in a look at something else but I told her that Ireally liked what I purchased then she asked me if i wanted the chairs off the floor then at least I would have aome chairs. I was totally pissed. I went into the store and spoke with the sales lady and she said that would get my chair because the manufacturer was sending 30 and I was the fourth ticket in line so I would definitely get four chairs. I looked over at the computer screen and there were so many open tickets waiting on these chairs and not all customers are going to get them. Universal is only sending 30 and after that they are not making anymore becuase the set is now on closeout. They even admitted that most of those open tickets were not going to get chairs. This is just bad business and poor customer service and so I canceled my order and will be going back to Havety's were I have done all my business in the past. So if anyone out there is waiting on side chairs for a lovely dark contemporary dining room ensemble..it has a matching china cabinet with brushed silver knobs, you better contact Haynes becuase more than likely you will not be getting your chairs. I had heard so many horrible stories about Haynes but against my better judgement, I made a purchase anyway. Well, never again.

The next day he called and apologized thateveryone was working on it and he would call me in 2 days to update me. No one now another week later is calling me back. I drove 30 minutes each way in this heat with my 90 year old mother to speak with the manager and they told me cindy is off today. They assured me she will call tomorrow. I do not want this furniture. Even though I paid up front I told them I want it picked up. I did not agree to any special order and would have definetly picked a different style if I knew that we would not have any furniture for this period of time. The follow up is unprofessional and the customer service is awful. Shame on them! Can anyone help me? I think it is a legal issue at this point.

Description: I wish that I had found this webpage before I went and bought a mattress set from Haynes Furniture. I actually don’t feel too bad about the service that I received from them. I think the biggest complaint here is receiving your merchandise after you have purchased it. Well I will add to this complaint, I was told that my mattress would be ready for me to pick up on a Wednesday. I called on that day and asked if I could come pick it up, and was told to come in on Thursday and it would be ready. Well I called Thursday just to make sure that it was ready and the lady said that it was still on the truck and would be unloaded and ready for pick up on Friday, So now this is three days after it was said to be there. On Friday I called the store at least 10 times, and no one in receiving answered the phone, so I left a message asking them to call me as soon as possible that was at 5 in the afternoon on Friday. No one from the store called me. So Saturday morning I went to the store to get my mattresses and to speak to a manager. Lets just say that not one manager came out to speak with me, but had time to call receiving to warn them that I was coming to get my mattress set. When I arrived at receiving the first words out of the lady mouth were and pardon my language “go ahead, bitch me out.” I did get my mattress set four days later than I was suppose to. Talking about good customer service, Haynes has none. Well as for me I am just warning you now I would not shop at Haynes in Newport News nor any other store that Haynes owns.

Description: Haynes Furniture does indeed seem to be as unscrupulous as many above posters have claimed. My wife and I went into the Haynes store in Virginia Beach to look at a Louis Phillipe style bedroom set. The salesperson told us that the manufacturer didn't include a "center support" in the bed for a mattress, but that Haynes would give us a special on their support for only $50. He also said that the manufacturer didn't include a warranty with their furniture and that we would need to buy a five year policy from Haynes if we wanted coverage. Knowing that most manufacturers offer limited warranties at the very least, I thanked the salesperson for his time and immediately left the store. Over at another comparable store in the area, I found the exact same set from the same manufacturer and discovered that all beds from this manufacturer come with built-in supports and a one year warranty. While my case alone might be attributed to one bad salesperson, when I saw the numerous complaints on this page, I knew Haynes suffers from indemic problems. Fortunately, I was able to see through the snow-job the salesman thought he could pull on me. I feel very sorry for anyone who wasted their hard-earned moolah at Haynes. I also attend a fairly sizable Graduate school in the area, and I will be warning new students moving into the area not to bother with Haynes.

Subject: (Other) Haynes Furniture non-delivery
Description: I saw this page AFTER buying and arranging furniture. Even then I thought that with the volume of customers they have it is inevitable that a few folks would have problems, but reading the complaints still made me nervous. Right now, I am waiting IMPATIENTLY for $2000 worth of living room furniture to be delivered. Although I was called yesterday and told delivery would be between 12:00 and 4:00, I just received a call (at 3:40) saying they were an hour behind schedule and therefore would not be here with my furniture until AT LEAST 5:30. (You do the math!!). No one will be at home at 5:30 because of a prior commitment, and I will be expected to pay a $50 fee for redelivery - BUT - they couldn't tell me when redelivery could be rescheduled. They also couldn't stop talking long enough to hear my complaint, nor could they tell me who to contact for satisfaction. It was pretty much "screw you, we'll do what we want." I called the customer service number, and was treated a little better, but after all the things I've read here, I figure everything I was told by the service rep was just to make me feel better and buy them more time. When they say to plan to be at home ALL DAY for delivery, they should explain that they mean a 24 hour period. (Did I mention that I spent the morning hauling off ALL our living room furniture?)

Follow-up
Subject: Company NA
Description: Just a follow-up note to my 8/5/05 complaint regarding delivery. After calling customer service at 3:50 and being told that the delivery driver had been contacted and instructed to deliver to me as soon as possible, I was surprised to see the truck at 4:55. The crew was professional and had my furniture in the house in less than 30 minutes. I learned that the drivers are independent contractors with their own trucks, so there is probably no consistency in the quality of delivery. I did notice damage to one piece, and the driver noted it on his manifest and told me to contact customer service to ensure that they arranged to correct the problem. So far, we are pleased with the furniture.

Description: I am a relatively new employee of Haynes Furniture and have to say that had I read this website before, I probably would not have applied to work here. All of the complaints that are written here, I've heard (probably in my first week). Delivery problems are some of the most common complaints. From what I know, one of the reasons for poor delivery service is the poor pay that the Cory Company pays the employees (Haynes subcontracts their deliveries to Cory). I've been told that if customers refuse deliveries (because the furniture is too big for a room or damaged or they've changed their mind, the delivery people are not paid?). You get the kind of delivery people that you pay for, I think. As for furniture deliveries with missing pieces and parts, this is why that happens: The top/senior salespeople at Haynes are given leeway to do whatever they want. This means that if they make a big sale and their order is missing a sofa or headboard, they go into the computer and steal it off the orders of the junior salespeople. Only they and management have the capability to do this. Management condones this practice. Haynes also does not train new salespeople properly. Consequently, they must "pay" senior salespeople to train them. If a new salesperson does not know how to do something and asks a senior salesperson to help them, they have to "split" their commission in half. That is the way you get to learn. In theory, that would work. However, senior salespeople are so greedy that when asked for help they just complete the transaction and show the new salesperson as little as possible to keep them dependent (so they'll keep splitting ticket commissions). Some of them even provide false information to set newbies up to look incompetent to customers that they hope to win. It could be a very hostile environment if one doesn't have excellent people skills and true grit. Needless to say, turnover is high. Many salespeople quit before their business cards even arrive. People at the local store generally do the best they can (given their knowledge, training, and the desire to make a buck). I think when an organization has customer service this poor, you have to look to the top--i.e., the ownership. You know the old, "the buck stops here....". It is patently obvious that the owners of this company have little or no respect for the consumer or they would improve this company's performance. They would hire a competent delivery company, they would stop pushing the sale of warranties that don't provide a service, and they would come up with a commission or compensation plan that would reward sales volume AND service instead of only delivered sales. Haynes provides a wide selection of furniture. They do a large volume of business and often have items readily in stock. However, I wouldn't suggest anyone buy on credit from Haynes. They advertise no payments and no interest accounts, but most people won't qualify for them. Also, you won't get the best prices when you buy with no interest financing. Use your credit or debit card and you can always contact your bank if you have a problem with a return.

Description: Over 30 years ago as newlyweds my husband and I bought our first furniture at Haynes. It's interesting that after all these years the problems we had then are the same problems customers are having today. Out of stock, late delivery, and damaged or mix-matched furniture seem to be the norm for this company, no matter where it is located. Our purchase was made at Virginia Beach. It was as true then as it is now about customer service and phone calls. The calls were never returned and once our purchase was made nobody seemed to care about us. Although we said we'd never buy from there again, we were thinking about looking at some furniture at Haynes, after all after 30 years the same problems couldn't exist...or so I thought. I am so glad I found this site. I'd forgotten how awful it was to sit and wait and be lied to day after day. I'm sure with the volume of business Haynes does that there are many satisfied customers. But if you aren't one of the lucky, your life will be on hold and stressful for quite some time. There are too many other places to shop in the Tidewater area. No "sale" is so good that it's worth the hassle from Haynes. Some things never change.

Description: I will never shop at this store again. First we had to go up to the store 4 times to make sure every thing was right. then on the fourth visit we found that our order had mismatched pieces, missing pieces, and different prices that we were promised. When we tried to get it straighten out the employees got rude. So we cancelled the order. The next day we talked to the district manager and he told us to come back in and he would fix everything. He did but the bedroom set we wanted we would have to wait a month and a half for it , when we were promised it in 2 weeks. So we choose another one and set it up for the same 2 week date. the Day of the delivery came and I called the delivery company at 10:00 that morning to get a time frame. They told me they couldn't give me one. So I 'm sitting there waiting and 3:00 rolls around so I call back to make sure they were going to delivery the furniture they tell me that now there is a hold on my order. Instead of making me wait here all day they could have called or let me know when I called that morning. Now me and my children have to sleep on the floor until we get the furniture. After this payoff I will never buy or recommend Haynes to anyone.

Description: It's been a while since I purchased my den set (couch, sofa, chair and 3 tables from Haynes). Although, I live within 4 miles of Haynes, I will never purchase another thing from them. On delivery day, the delivery guy got really mad when I reminded him that the furniture was purchased for the upstairs den (at the time of purchase, my husband and I repeatedly told the salesman the furniture was for the second floor of our home). Since it was 3 delivery guys and just me (a women) at my house, I would not tell him what he could do with the furniture. I told him that I would call the store to find out why the store did not tell them of the second floor delivery. The delivery guy told me (in a nasty way) that Haynes doesn't care and calling wouldn't help him in anyway. I called my husband to come home for fear of this rude salesman. When my husband arrived, the delivery guy attitude changed, he became nice (my husband is a big guy and does not tolerate rude behaviors). My husband suggested ways to get the set up the stairs and it worked. After the deliver, I called the store and complained. I don't know if anyone talked to the delivery guy. Also, a short time later, I began to get round glossy spots on the coffee table. It started with one spot and now has more than 5 spots. My husband and I did nothing to cause these spot. I never bothered complaining to the company because I knew I would be wasting my time. Lastly, I am sick and tired of hearing Haynes commercials on TV and on the radio. The commercials are full of lies and I am hoping Wavy News 10 or someone else will investigate and expose the lies. Haynes if forever liquidating stock, etc and when you go there, there is no deal. Case and point, they advertise rooms of carpet for a low price. I decided to investigate this great carpet sale. When I inquired about the sale, I was told by a salesman that I would not want the "cheap carpet" and my money would be better spent on other carpet within the store. Of course the other carpet cost was triple that of the carpet advertised. I would suggest to shop around-don't be sucked in my Haynes lies and deceit.

Description: I purchased a complete living room set and a dining room table prior to being transferred to Italy under military orders in March 07 at the Haynes Furniture Store in Newport News, VA. In attempts to protect our investment, we left everything in the original containers/packaging since the furniture was being shipped overseas within a few weeks after purchase. Once we arrived in Italy and opened our new furniture, it was apparent that this Haynes Furniture store has a quality control issue. First, the sectional sofa we purchased came in three pieces (love seat, couch, and wedge). The wedge fabric is a different shade of brown/tan than the rest of the couch. It stands out like a sore thumb. The LIGO dining room table we purchased, which is made in Thailand, was full of quality issues as well, and because Haynes did not assemble the pieces prior to my pick up, it wasn't until we opened the boxes in Italy that we found the wrong and missing pieces to the chairs. Out of 6 total chairs, I ended up with only 4 chairs fully assembled as the other two were missing the cross piece for the foot rest. Ironically, there were about 3 or 4 extra pieces that we didn't need, but I ended up modifying those pieces to make the other two chairs usable. After spending several thousand dollars with this store, I would expect more, especially on the quality side. Now that I am overseas in Italy and can't go back to the store, I'm stuck with mismatched furniture and no reimbursement. They got me!

Description: I purchased a table and 4 chairs from Haynes Furniture in Richmond, VA, in less than one year the leg on one of the chairs broke. Haynes sends out their technician only to be told that it was not covered w/ the warranty. I had to purchase another chair and was told that it would be in on Saturday. When I get to the warehouse the chair was not their and was told by managers at both stores and the headquaters (Jerry McBrew) that is was to too bad that my chair was not delivered on time and if I wanted it I would just have to drive back (60 miles one way) to get it and it was nothing more that they could do other than give me a $20 discount. I have never had such poor service and will not recommend Haynes to anyone.

Description: I hope you see this web page before you shop at Haynes! I absolutley agree with each and every complaint on this page. Haynes is a high volume dealer and has sacrificed every bit of their business integrity in pursuit of the bottom line - your hard earned money. Don't expect one ounce of decent service after you've made your purchase, because that is the exact moment anything remotely resembling "customer service" STOPS!!!!! I've wasted countless hours of my life on the phone and in the store trying to get the service I thought was part of any purchase transaction. It all depends on how much money your time is worth. You may end up with the furniture you paid for, but it will take constant, personal attention on your part to make it happen. If you don't care when you get your furniture or whether it arrives undamaged - shop here. They do have low prices, but they make up the difference by spending no money on costumer service or delivery. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!!!!!

Description: I just clicked on Haynes Furniture to see what types of living and bedroom furniture might be available on line - and this entire list of complaints appeared! I should not even be considering purchasing any further items from Haynes anyway. We purchased a recliner from Haynes in Manteo and it "looked" to be a different color in the store and when my husband brought one home, it looked another color. The salesperson said the store lighting casts a different look to the colors sometimes, but I REALLY HATE the recliner, even when a second one was delivered but felt so foolish asking to return the second one and just get our money back, that we are living with the chair. I did go into the store later to look at other furniture and the salesperson asked how we liked the chair, I said "we don't." The conversation dropped. The other folks writing in are correct, though, that they are one of the biggest furniture chains and in this area, the prices seem better. Tough call when one needs furniture. Where to go?

Description: I have worked for Haynes in the past many years ago. They have a lot of problems with their delivery department. However, first that is not your sales persons problem. That is the delivery department. Second, I haven't known any of the sales people their to make an hourly and salary wage it has always been commision. Secondly, make sure you read your contract on the back of your ticket when purchasing anything from there. Remember always to ask about warranties. When buying something before you commit yourself to anything make sure they have it in stock and a good question to ask is "Can I pick that up tomorrow" if they say yes, you know it is there. A lot of those sales people in the past would take something that had been comitted to a previous customers order just to give to you. The problem that I see, is that people get pressured when purchasing furniture. Take your time, look around, make sure it is what you want and it will fit in your house. If you are dealing with a sales person that seems to be in a hurry, that is because they are in a hurry to get your money. Haynes does not always finance everyone, read the fine prints ladies and gentlemen. Until you sign a contract...YOU ARE NOT COMMITTED to ANYTHING.

Description: I purchased on Nov. 12, 2009 many thousands of dollars worth of furniture. The day of delivery I was told it was damaged in transit but would be here Dec. 18, 2009. I told them right after Thanksgiving that if it was not here by the 18th as I had many guests arriving in town, I would cancel the order and get a refund from my credit card. They did deliver some pieces of different sets. I told them to come get the pieces since I did not have my entire order. Apiece here and a piece there was unacceptable. They said they could get all to me after Christmas but on Nov. 12, I was promised I would have it by Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving they promised I would have it by Christmas, still it is not here and it is the 20th of Dec., 2009. I'm furious and I am taking them to court and had my charge card cancel payment which takes 8 weeks. The salesman lied about the delivery dates according to their distribution center...they said the furniture was always scheduled to arrive after Christmas. He just wanted to make the sale and kept putting me off knowing the actual due date but kept lying to me, the Customer. This is a really bad company.

Description: After reading all the negatives comments, I almost didn't go to Haynes, but I couldn't find what I was looking for at the other stores in Virginia Beach. I went to Haynes, and worked with Jamie, who was wonderful and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. She worked all the details while I went to lunch, and I stopped back by the store to pay. This was on Weds. She told me there was a Fri delivery available if I wanted it. The delivery people called Thurs. to tell me they would be there Fri. between 8am and Noon. This morning, Fri., they rang the doorbell at 7:55 am. They were prompt, courteous and did an excellent job. Everything was exactly as promised. No doubt, some people do have a terrible experience with a company, but to me Haynes came through with flying colors and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I will go back!

Description: Take all these complaints and note them well. I only wish I would have seen this site before I purchased furniture and carpet from Haynes. I purchased my carpet in November of '08'. The carpet was put in a week before my daughters wedding ceremony on Dec 20 (which was being performed in the room in which the carpet was being replaced in). The first crew to come in and put the carpet in was TERRIBLE! they were unprofessional, did sloppy work, patched a corner and didn't tell me, it looked like they took a box cutter down the middle of the room where the seam was, there was a 3/4 inch gap from where the carpet ended and the door started, and they didn't have the proper equipment and had to come back the next day to finish. Which meant another day off work for me. I complained to the company, which they were not very cooperative immediately. I told them at that time I didn't want anything but them to come and do it right. They basically try tosay whatever they have to say in order to not replace it again. I will say this much, I called my sales person, And he was very prompt on getting the ball rolling . I finally got someone out there to see the carpet and he agreed the whole carpet had to be replaced. needless to say, it took another month. The next time they came in I took another day off work, they replaced it again and there was a carpet flaw! THREE DAYS OFF WORK SO FAR! and a 50 year old piano that has to keep being moved and now really needs to be tuned! Come to find out, the first guys they sent to replace the carpet had a bad reputation and many complaints on him from everyone, yet they continue to do business with him. They are contractors. Now its April and I just had the carpet replaced, Installation # 3! 4 DAYS OFF WORK, 2 MORNINGS OFF FOR THE INSPECTOR TO COME AND EXAMINE THE CARPET, MANY PHONE CALLS AND ALOT HEADACHES WITH MY LIVING ROOM NOT BEING ABLE TO FULLY PUT BACK TOGETHER FOR OVER 4 MONTHS! Unfortunately for me, this carpet has cost me more than it was worth. Trying to deal with customer service was terrible. I asked for just my time to be compensated, and you would have thought that the customer service reps were paying it out of their own pocket! They finally, after many attempts and many more phones calls, compensated me with a "gift certificate" with an expiration date on it. Like I really want to do any more business with them! As far a I'm concerned, it didn't make any of this worth what I purchased.

Description: If you are planning on going to Haynes Furniture to purchase furniture DONT!!!!!!!!!! Haynes has a very bad reputation. There staff will do almost whatever it takes to make the sale and then when it comes time for delivery thay never come through on time. I purchased $1,500 worth of bedroom furniture , to some this may be nothing but to me with the cost of everything going up I am on a tight budget so this is a considerable purchase for me. I purchased this bedroom set on September 9 2005 and the sales lady , Joyce Marshall, said it would be scheduled for delivery on Sept. 27, 2005. Sept. 27 came around and not everything had come in and some was on BACKORDER ( this is their famous excuse) ... She said it was resceduled to come in the following week, and she would call me when it was in . The following week rolled around and still no furniture. They offered a partial delivery NOT. I was not about to accept a partial delivery on a mirror and nightstand , and risk them not being able to ever get the rest of the furniture in. So finally October 26 2005 she called me back to let me know that all was in and I was scheduled for delivery on November 1, 2005 (Today) . On October 31 the people from the deliver company called to let me know that they would be out between 11am-3pm on Tuesday Nov. 1 . I asked the person on the phone two questions 1) will the delivery people remove the old furniture (THE ANSWER WAS NO!!!) 2) was my full set being shown as being delivered ( They told me that all they were showing was the nightstand and mirror) .. When the lady told me that I told her that it was suppose to be a complete set and that I did not want it delivered if that was all they were showing. After speaking with this person I called back to my Newport News Haynes furniture store and spoke with Joyce Marshall again and explained to her what was going on , she spoke to her manager I guess who got with the delivery people. Joyce called me back and told me that everything was straight and that we were going to be delivered to on Nov1 as scheduled. Later that day I contacted the delivery people again and asked them what they were showing for delivery on Nov. 1 2005 for me and they said that it was finally the complete set and that everything was straight. Well here it is at 2:45 pm on NOV 1 , 2005 . I spoke to the people at the delivery dept at 2:00 pm because they told me yesterday that I was going to be the first stop in Gloucester for Today. Well according to the people in the delivery dept. the last thing they are showing was that I refused delivery yesterday because it was not a complete set UPDATE: At 3:00 pm I spoke to a Cindy Authur Asst. Manager , she spoke with the delivery people and still couldn't determine why my delivery was not sent on todays truck. She apparently arranged it with the delivery supervisor to where she could deliver it on Thursday Nov. 3 NOT!!!!!!!!!!! After having already taken everything out of the room , ready for the new set , and then have to reset everything up for a couple of days and take it all down again , I DONT THINK SO. So needless to say they have lost another faithful customer , I had to drive over to Newport News at 3:30 pm today and make sure that I was refunded the proper amount of money. I also made sure that I closed out my Haynes Credit Acct . And now I am in the process of filing to take them to SMALL CLAIMS COURT for reimbersment of my pay for having to use a day of vacation leave to be home to recieve the shipment. Hopefully this complaint may steer you from making a purchase at Haynes Furniture and having simular problems like I have had. This is the THIRD time that I have had serious problems with a purchase from them and all three times it relates to DELIVERY. You know what they say THREE STRIKES YOUR OUT. Description: Ordered bedroom furniture back in Sept. for our daughter who FINALLY had her own room! She picked it out herself after going to 5 different OTHER furniture stores, she fell in love with this set...she liked it so much she was willing to be patient until the 15-20th of Nov. to get it.....Yesterday we got a call from Mike Gibson, our sales guy telling us it wont be till AT LEAST the end of Jan. maybe later!??! I asked him if he called around to any of the other Haynes stores (or affiliates) to see if anything was in stock or if anyone else had anything and even said we would take the sleigh bed instead of the poster bed, and he said yes he called everyone, but noone else has anything. By the way, did I mention we paid in full for the furniture when we ordered it? I took it apon myself to call another Haynes store and wouldnt you know THEY HAD EVERYTHING IN STOCK and it is being delivered on Nov. 8th! The other sales person who helped me completely via telephone is faxing me receipts and was great! Our daughter is very excited and I wonder if I could have gotten all of this a month ago if I had a better, even and honest salesperson. All he was concerned about was getting the easy sale and commision and totally could have caredless at all about customer service or even doing his job! What a liar and what a creep! Beware of false promises and look out for yourself! We recetly purchased$5000+ in furniture from a DIFFERENT saleswoman at Haynes (prior to getting the phone call) and she was great! I guess it just boils down to good ole' work ethic, honesty and integrity.

Description: I for one am appalled at How such a big hipe is placed on the term"The biggest Sale Ever" and "Only this day,Never again will we offer". The sales pitch is insulting to anyone that has more of a brain then a two year old. I mean come , get a grip folks. It's sad really that you have the Ownership of the company prancen around in monkey suits with fake smiles. Your attitude and your gimicks are for the most part keeping folks away not drawing them in. You want some advice? , here you go! start listening to the folks that matter, the consumer. Your not thinking broud base, your thinking short lived, get it while you can. simple terms ; greed. If I see this i'm sure others do as well. Your days of a three ring circus, are numbered, because most folks i talk to about your operations are not giving you high marks at all. I was told not to even go into your store, but i did because i wanted to see your operations for myself, trying to give you all the benefit of the doubt, but what i found during my visit to your store was appalling to say the least. Your sales staff was rude to me, did not want to help me when asked, so i'm guessing it was a senior sales rep. I then talked to what i think was a new sales man, that had to keep running away to ask someone a question everytime i asked one, even down to something as simple as do you offer it in a pefered color. But it was clearly marked with color swatches of availible colors and fabrics. Why did the sale rep not know this? funny thing is he asked i guess the senior sales person and all that person did was walk over by me and point at the swatches, making a fool out of the other sales person in front of me. This is not what i would call good practice, if your going to have a person feel comfortable in your store.bottom line up front if your thinking more volume, and not a good product and sales exper. then your off closing the doors. Understanding your in business to make money, you should not be doing so by cheating the consumer of a good sales exper. and a product that will be delivered on time, in perfect condition, and a follow up done to insure that consumer will be a repeat sale. Catching a sucker on a line is not the right way to do your job! but oh sure it's quick money in your pocket, but why don't you do it the right way and earn it! It really sickens me to have to write such a statment here, but i could not help but to say something about your operations in hopes that your leadership might somehow get my point.

Description: I recently purchased furniture from Haynes, but it was never delivered because customer service canceled my delivery order. I went into the store at Hull/Elkardt Road, paid for my furniture and scheduled a delivery date. I took off work for delivery of my furniture and found out later in the day that my delivery had been cancelled. Why? Because the person who called my house the day before did not talk to me directly. I received a call on my voice mail which I thought was to confirm my delivery for the next day. I did not call back because the person (Brenda) did not say that I needed to call back. Also , I had given my work number to the sales person the day of my order and asked that they call me at my work number to confirm delivery, but forgot to put my information in the system. He admitted that he forgot to put my work number in the system. So, I lost a day from work because of Haynes' incompetent employee. Not only that, I had to deal with a rude person in their customer service dept when i called to check on my delivery. I asked for her last name which she refused to give. She was very rude. I don't care if I spent a penny at Haynes I did not deserve the treatment I received. By the way I spent over $2,000. Anyway, I went somewhere else and found better furniture and better customer service. If I ever get anything from Haynes I will make sure that I have someone to deliver the product.

Description: My husband and I purchased a love seat and sofa as well as a dining room table from Haynes in Richmond, VA (Broad St. store). Our sales person was very nice to work with and the delivery came exactly as scheduled. That's when all the problems started. The dining room table had a significant flaw in the wood and we refused to accept delivery. The love seat/sofa appeared fine. The next day I saw that there was a two inch slice in the fabric on the back part of one of the arms of the sofa which I had not previously seen- definitely my fault for not being more thorough. I immediately called the store and notified my sales person - at that point I had "owned" the sofa less than 36 hours. He indicated he would notify the service dept. Since I was already scheduled for a re-delivery of the dining table, I simply wanted to have them put a new sofa on the truck with the table. They could then take the damaged one back to their warehouse. OH NO - that's way too logical for these people. Despite repeated phone calls to store managers, customer service personnel etc... the ONLY way to handle this is to have a service tech come out and assess the damage. It is absolutely irrelevant to me what the service tech says as I will not accept a "repaired" sofa for something for which I paid full price. The store manager has assured me that they will deliver a new sofa once I go through all the motions. So in essence, I will have lost FOUR DAYS of work for something that should have taken one day. The original delivery, the redelivery of the dining table, the meeting with the service technician and finally the redelivery of the new sofa. They do not know what the meaning of customer service is. Stay the heck away from this store. Find your furniture there, write down the manufacturer's information, go online and then buy it from someone else. My husband and I had planned to go back this week and purchase another sofa for our den. We will not be doing so. We will take our business to a store that knows how to stand behind their products and delivers customer service.

Description: I recently purchased living room furniture from Haynes. We selected a delivery date and were told we would receive a call to confirm the time. The call did not come in a timely manner, and Haynes cancelled our delivery date. I tried to call to set it straight two days prior to the delivery. No one returned my calls. The day prior to the scheduled delivery, I was put through to the warehouse. The person I was speaking with hung up on me. When I requested a manager or supervisor, I was told none was available. She called me a liar when I said we left a message confirming the delivery, but no one called me back. The warehouse refused to work with me and referred me back to the store. I called the 1-800 customer service number I found online and was told that number only handled problems after furniture is delivered. The woman said the delivery would have to be rescheduled although the rescheduled date was difficult for me to accommodate. I requested a refund of my delivery fee and she refused. I called the store and requested to speak to an in store manager or customer service manager. None were available. I left my name and number, but none called me back. I called the store later that day and said I would come in personally and make a scene in front of other customers. A manager was placed on the phone. She was also unsuccessful in getting the warehouse to honor the delivery date I initially selected. She did offer to rebate the delivery fee; but it did not compensate for the expense and inconvenience I incurred for the change of date, not having furniture for my family and my guests, taking an additional day off work, and putting out of town guests in a hotel due to this delivery snafu. The worst part of the ordeal was how rude the Haynes customer service and delivery staff are at all levels of the organization. The nicest person I spoke with was Barb, the operator and Leetha, a manager who I think was sincere in trying to help out. I had planned to make another furniture purchase at Haynes; but I have changed my mind. This is not a pleasant company to do business with.

Description: Few years ago, i bought my first place after graduating from college. I went to Haynes in Newport News looking for an entire bedroom suit that i had seen in an ad which by the way was very misleading. It ended up being way more expensive than the advertisement. When the set was delivered, the guys that put the bed together didn't pre-drill the holes for the screws and now, the foot/head board have cracks. At the time, i didn't know any better and it wasn't until i moved that my new husband noticed the split in the wood and pre drilled the screws in to try to salvage it. Recently, we went in to look at a kitchen table and they were out of stock, but the sales person said that she would call us when they got more. Never heard a word from them. Needless to say, i guess they were not interested in our business, and we are not interested in them any longer. Do not waste your time. It was an awful experience. We've been shopping at Ethan Allen ever since, and their products are much better quality and the service and professionlism of the staff is outstanding.

Description: I found myself rather frustrated with this store even though I've been treated nicely by the sales staff. I spent two and half hours picking out a chair that I needed for my home and two more weeks waiting for it to arrive for pick up. I called to verify the closing time and the pick-up clerk told me they closed at 8:00. I arrived before 8:00 (just 20 minutes after I had called) only to find that they closed early. I immediately when to the sales counter to inquire and to explain that I had just drove 30 miles to pick up an item only to find that the pick-up window had closed early. I further explained that I had called ahead. Someone was kind enough to assist me but to no avail. I had invested almost four hours into this process only to be offered a $50 gift certificate for additional merchandise in the store (like I felt like spending more money at that point) or to accept free delivery (of which I would have to take off from work an additional 2 to 3 hours waiting for the truck to arrive). I was disappointed that Haynes would not care to the extent they inconvenience customers. After being highly disappointed in their response, I simply asked for a complete refund, which will take four days to process. I have purchased several things from this company over the past three years and felt like they lost out on this one. Not that I expected them to care, but it simply frustrates me when poor customer service wins out over the efforts of the consumer. I will definitely write a full letter to the company as well as call the store up directly again on Monday when I can speak to a department manager. I figure this is the least I can do for those who might fall prey to such an inconvenience as this after me. If you want to close earlier, then don't advertise to the public you close at 8:00 when you actually close at 7:50.

Description: We are also victims of Haynes Furniture's bad customer service. We were told to come back in the morning to fill out more paper work and the sales rep. told me the wrong time. They weren't even open for business yet. Then she made me wait outside for an hour until they actually opened. Thats not all. She made me come back again because she forgot something else on the paper work. By this time I was getting a little upset. Once everything was said and done and the furniture was delivered. They screwed up the paper work anyway and started charging us interest and payments right away. We were signed up for the no interest and no payments for a full year. Go figure right? Description: I bought a sectional living room from Haynes Furniture in Ocoee, FL. I paid $1700 on my bank card. I left the store at eight o'clock. I got home and measured the area for the sectional and doubted that it would fit. I went back to the store the next morning (Sunday 10AM) to confirm the measurement. When I got there the living room was gone. The manager told me that someone bought the living room last night and it was moved to the warehouse for delivery. I informed him I was the last customer here last night and I did not buy a floor sample. I let him know that I would not accept delivery of used furniture. I informed him that I need to see the sectional for measurement before arranging for delivery. He told me that he would get one in the store by the following week. That was a month ago. I have not received any call form anyone from the store. I bought the furniture because I had guest coming for Thanksgiving. I spent Thanksgiving with no living room and it looks that my Christmas would be the same. I have recently found out from a friend that the store is selling broken floor sample as new furniture. My friend ran into the same problem with them. I paid for new furniture and plan to get it or my money back. If I had my way, I would close their business down. I plan to file a complaint at my local Better Business Bureau. I would advise every one not to buy furniture from Haynes Furniture because many of their store managers are unscrupulous.

Description: We recently had an experience with The Dump furniture store in Hampton, Virginia (owned by Haynes). We purchased a leather sectional sofa (Natuzzi in perfect condition) and returned the following day to pick up the sofa. When we returned, the leather had been punctured in one of the seats. The manager of the store did not offer to repair the sofa, nor any discount for the damage so that we could have it repaired ourselves. His comment was, "this is an as-is store." The sofa was not damaged until after it was moved from the showroom floor, thus some kind of compensation for the damage should have been in order. We decided we did not want the couch when no agreement over the damage could be reached. The manager gave us a receipt for the credit to our credit card; however, the actual credit was not processed until over a week later. They wouldn't have a couch they damaged repaired or offer a discount and then held on to our money for a week! In two other instances I have purchaed carpet through Haynes and while in the end the carpet looks great, we did have problems with the quantities they were trying to charge for "waste" and had to jump though some major hoops to convince them their measurements were wrong (i.e. a 20 x 15 foot room measured at 35 x 20 for just one example). I'm over Haynes - will never shop there again and would recommend to anyone to try other local alternatives. Went to Grand after the sofa fiasco at the Dump and got a great deal on brand new furniture.

Subject: (Other) Entire Buying Experience at Haynes Furniture Store
Description: Yet another complaint it seems for the Newport News of Haynes Furniture Store. On November 19th my husband and I purchased a couch. The salesman told my husband and I that and shipment was due the first week of December and that we would be GUARANTEED the couch if we drove to Richmond VA to pick it up ourselves. This is because there seems to be a high demand for this particuliar item. I just called today on the off chance that it may of come in and was told that there is NO guarantee that I will be one of the people getting one of the couches that are being delivered. It appears that only 5 couches are being delivered and 14 people waiting. There is another delivery on December 21st but my husband and I are having a very important Holiday gathering at our house before that. This was the reason we agreed to drive and hour away and pick it up ourselves. I just spoke with the store manager and he said that the shipment on the 7th won't be ready for pickup until the 8th or 9th. It takes awhile to unload, register the items etc. He said the chances are good that I'll get one of the 5 couches. I spoke with someone in Richmond and they told me that the chances are NOT good because there are 12 people who's orders were before mine. I totally HATE being lied to because of a sale. My husband and I were looking at anothe entire set of leather living room furniture and had we been told that there was no guaranteed pickup for the other couch, we most likely would of spent 14 hundred dollars more on the leather set. So, in essence, they will probably be losing 2 sales. The one on the couch which I will cancel because of being lied to and the possible purchase I would of made if the salesman would of been honest. Oh, and I too was put on hold ("ignore") numerous times while trying to get a manager on the phone and that was AFTER I had to wait for them to even answer the phone. It must of been all the other upset customers trying to get through

Description: I'm an ex-employee for this company and I would not recommend anyone to shop at this store. I'm gonna tell you how this company operates...When you make a purchase first off don't believe anything that the salespeople tell you. They will say anything so that you can buy, the delivery company sucks and delivery will tell you anything just to get you off the phone..Pickup is horrible most of the items that come off the truck is damaged...Managers never wants to talk to the customer, I worked in the business office and so many calls come in to speak with a manager--managers never wants to answer a call they always tell the operator to get their salesperson or take message...When a customer comes in to speak to a manager they always get the girls in the office to talk to them because they are scared to come out...There's only so much a person can do it in the office, the manager hide and would rather have the customer yell at the people in the office rather than them..Which is not fair to the people that are in the office! Their refund sucks! I feel if you paid right then and there you should get your money back right then and there..But with this company you have to wait 7-10 business days for your refund, which is not fair to the customers...I would have to say the company is not bad its just the people who work there is making the company look bad...When you call over to corporate they always have a nasty attitude, they don't really want to help, which looks especially when you are trying to help the customer that is in the store...While I was working I have heard the worst stories ever by any company and I would not recommend my family or friends or anyone who wants to purchase from this store , I would tell them in a heartbeat do not shop at this store you would better off go to the RoomStore to get your furniture like I did....

He said there are no other pieces coming in because it is a discontinued item and the floor modle I wanted to take home was sold out from under us.This salesman never knew what he was talking about from the moment we walked in the door. He called us into the store under the impression that there was one in stock for us to buy and we should come in that day. That is how our service form HELL started with them. After paying for the item we were told that 7 more were on thier way to our store in less than two weeks. The sales people were literally selling a furniture grouping that was discontinued and it took them two and a half months to figure that out. Every time I called pick-up department they would say that they were wating for two more parts. I called a sales manager and he did apologise for the delay and offered free delivery. (which from reading from this site I should not have accepted !) After a very long wait I was told by another sales manager that every thing was going fine and there was a shipping delay. I convinced him to take off $200 from the total and continued to be patient. Wrong Move. I called when the furniture was finally going to be in stock and that is when the salesman called me and lied for the third time that I had spoken with him out of three conversations. We got a refund and a pitiful apology for the stupidity of the salseman and management. I plan on looking ant showrooms for ideas and buying anywhere else than Haynes. By the way The Dump is run and owned by Haynes as well. Beware of both of them!!!! p.s. I am now searching for a perfect unit for a 56 inch tv that i bought to fit the unit we were getting from Haynes next time i will by the unit first!

Description: I WAS LOOKING FOR FURNITURE FOR MY DAUGHTER. WE WENT UP AND DOWN VA BEACH BLVD. HAYNES SEEMED TO HAVE THE BEST DEAL. WE WERE THERE FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS THE SALES PERSON GAVE US A QUOTE, WHEN WERE WENT TO PAY THE LADY BEHIND THE DESK GAVE US A PRICE THAT WAS ALMOST $1,000.00 DIFFERENT FROM WHAT THE SALES PERSON SAID. WHEN WE ASK THE SALES PERSON TO EXPLAIN SHE GOT NASTY. WE TOLD THEM TO GIVE US OUR CREDIT CARD BACK AND LEFT. THE NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND MADE ME GO BACK AND GET A DIFFERENT SALES LADY( WHO WAS NICE). WE WERE TOLD THAT ALL THE FURNITURE WILL NOT COME AT THE SAME TIME BUT THEY CAN SEND MY DAUGHTER'S BED. SO, I GOT RID OF HER OLD ONE. WHEN THE BED CAME IN IT WAS CRACKED, PAINT ON IT AND THE WOOD WAS DIFFERENT COLORS. I TOLD THE MEN TO TAKE IT BACK. SO, WHEN I CALLED HAYNES AND COULD NOT GET ANYONE ON THE PHONE I WENT BACK TO THE STORE. (MAD) THEY REALLY DIDN'T MAKE ME FEEL BETTER BUT PROMISED TO MAKE SURE THINGS WERE RIGHT THE NEXT TIME THE SEND OUT THE FURNITURE. SO, THEY DID AND AVERYTHING WAS OK UNTIL ABOUT 4 WEEKS LATER WHEN I NOTICED THE TOP OF THE DRESSER STARTED TO LIFT UP. LET ME JUST SAY. HAYNES COULD NOT PAY ME TO PUT ANOTHER PIECE OF THEIR FURNITURE IN MY HOUSE EVER AGAIN.

Subject: Store NA
Description: I made two significant purchases from their store in the past 30 days, first of an Entertainment center and then of a computer desk/workstation. The entertainment center was "brand new", and the computer desk we were told was "the LAST one they had, a discontinued item and they ONLY had the floor model left".. After much discussion with my husband, we agreed to purchase the floor model and made delivery arrangements...they delivered the items when promised, however the Entertainment center was VERY damaged over 3 of the 6 pieces. We called the store manager and made our complaints known; he apologized profusely and promised to have replacement pieces shipped to us from the factory, and that they would be delivered in aproximately 10 days. Needless to say, it took closer to 25 days for us to receive the "new" pieces...and they were even MORE damaged than the originals! They looked like someone had dropped them on the ground aafter they had been taken out of their box. We called Haynes again, and then went over to the store to see the Vice President of Operations, Mr. Kleinman. He was very apologetic, promised to send over his best repairman to see if he could work miracles on our damaged items. He asked us to let them work on the items, and if we weren't satisfied he would see what else they could do. We agreed and the repairman came over to do his thing. We decided that they should bring back one of the first damaged pieces as it was less damaged than the "replacement" piece. He said he had to call the store and see if they had the piece first and then he would get back to me. He stepped outside to make his call, said they "found the piece" and he would go get it and bring it back here to me. When he returned with "the original piece", we looked it over, noted the damaged areas, and he proceded to work on the spots. As I looked closer at the piece, I realized that it WAS NOT my original piece. I told the repairman this, and he proceeded to point out things like "the tape we put on the glass", or the "protective styrofoam placed on the front of the cabinet", I told him that "no, that wasn't it, but that I was POSITIVE this was NOT my original piece of furniture", and would say no more about the details. At this point I am EXTREMELY UPSET at Haynes, now KNOWING that they have LIED to me about the availability of the replacements for my damaged goods. You see, there is a tag attached to the side of the cabinet telling you about the dimmer light feature of the piece which cannot be removed without significant effort on the consumers part due to the way it's attached to the button itself. When I attempted to remove my original tag, I was only able to remove the paper tag itself and a piece of the string about 1/2" long was stuck to the button...the piece "returned" to me as my "original" had a brand new tag attached on it, with the SAME tight, user unfriendly string. This represented a blatent lie on the part of the repairman who told me he was bringing back my originally damaged cabinet, and also on the store manager who was very definite in his assurances that there were NO MORE pieces available. And that's just the saga with the first purchase.....the computer desk "magically appeared" as a "brand new" item on the display floor 2 days after our "last one we have" purchase. The manager's answer to this was.."Well, let's ship you out a brand new desk".. Had we not gone looking around there, we would have never known about the deception, and been suckered there too! Now our recourse is to see the General Manager on Monday, and to send out warnings to other consumers in the area about the store. I am a proud member of the U.S. Navy, and the thought that these folks are lying and taking advantage of those of us who are fighting for our country is abhorrant to me. This is a HUGH Military area and I am quite sure that a SIGNIFICANT percentage of Haynes business comes from those of us in the military; the thought that we are being taken advantage of leaves me with few options but to warn any and all of those of us in the fighting forces to STAY AWAY from this company. We have a hard enough time being prey to those who would take advantage of the military folks here, we need to stick together to warn those who might not be so lucky next time.

Description: I special ordered some office furniture from Haynes in Newport News. At the time I placed the order, I was told that 33 percent was required for a down payment. I did not have a problem with that as this was the furniture I wanted. I signed the usual contract that included a time of delivery. When the furniture arrived only three of the seven pieces lacked major damage and I mean major. I photographed the damaged items and rejected them. When I contacted the salesman he assured me that they could arrange for replacements within a few weeks. Although my office was now a mess, I was willing to wait a few more weeks but that was it. He called later that day to inform me it would likely be two or three months before the items could be delivered. I informed him that I would seek a refund and instructed him to send someone out to pick up the items they delivered. Impossible he replied, you have a non-refundable deposit. Having studied law, I informed him of the perfect tender rule. Needless to say he was clueless. Any bi-lateral contract involves performance. I pay, you deliver the goods in the manner as stated in the contract. Having explained the legal process they agreed to refund my money. I went to Haverty's and purchased new office furniture and it was delivered in the manner stated. The problem I now had was the Haynes stuff was still in my office. The day before Haverity's was scheduled to deliver, Haynes had still not removed their stuff from my office despite several calls to the store in the weeks before. The threat of having their stuff placed on the street by the delivery staff of Haverity's was the only thing that Haynes responded to. The morale of the story is, if you shop at Haynes bring along your lawyer. Lastly, for those of us that can't reach the channel changer before their commercials appear on TV, how do they continue to reduce prices "lower than they ever have before." With the years they have been in business shouldn't they be giving the stuff away by now? They need a new slogan better suited to reality. "Major damage at no extra charge and we'll get there when we get there so don't bug us," seems more their style.

Description: WOW. I wish I had seen this website before dealing with Haynes Furniture in Virginia Beach. My husband and I purchased a table in CASH, and were promised it would be in in 3 days. No phone call in 5 days, so we called them. Getting customer service there is an oxymoron. You're put on hold, get a voicemail, switched from department to department....you get the picture. All we got was this reply.."Your table will be here in 3 days." I forgot to add that we were picking this up ourselves. To make a long story short, 20 days after our purchase, a table comes in. We get it home, take it out of the packaging, and guess what? IT IS DAMAGED. Hmmm.....this after saying they had inspected it. Needless to say, we returned it the same night and wanted a refund to our account. Guess what? 3 business days and it will be there. Not.....it's been over a week, and STILL no credit to our account. No table, no money back. This company is NOT accountable, they hire people who dodge the customers, and frankly, they do not care. Also, it's impossible to ever speak with a "manager". This place is shady. On the bright side, I would suggest going to Grand Furniture. We made the mistake of going there after Haynes, but did end up buying a nice living room set...yes, still cash, and guess what? It was delivered to our home damage free in TWO DAYS. It's time to get the Better Business Bureau on this so called company.

Description: I will never shop Haynes Furniture again... I recently bought a sofa and love seat and a set of three tables from the company . The first thing is when the items were delivered the color was not what was seen in the showrrom of the furniture, the delivery people stated to me that is a common complaint Haynes uses special lighting to make the furniture look different. Well I let that part go. Unfortunealy the tables once in my home really did not match. I called the store to see how to return them. The answer I got was we have no return policy. I stated if you have no policy than how can you say I cant return them. The recp than said somebody can come to my house if they are damaged and fix them, I stated I clearly do not want them she then said only if they do not fit in my house I can return them.To make a long story short after about 15 phone calls I finally get to a sales manager who says to me you can return them where are you getting that info from that you cannot I told him the recp he stated he did not believe me. I even had every consversation on speaker phone at my work my fellow employees could just not believe what I had to go through. Which is a good thing now because NOBODY out of 20 people said they would ever deal with Haynes. To end the story the funny thing is when I said I would roll uo to the front door of Haynes ans drop all my furniture off that is when I was finally told to bring it back. Isnt it amazing they will be down your throat to sell you some furniture but when you have a problem their is no customer service.

Description: I am really hoping to make the public aware of the type of business haynes furniture conducts. We have had an absolutely horrific experience, and are truly amazed at what they get away with. We never would have dreamed of such service! They offer NO customer service, & unfortunately we were 1-time customers---- I so wish we'd thought to check some references before ever thinking of walking through their doors! Consumers beware: read your contract & understand it--- or, you will be stuck paying FULL price for damaged furniture which they will gladly send a repair technician a 1/2 year later. AWFUL SERVICE! AWFUL BUSINESS! GO TO GRAND IN CHARLOTTESVILLE! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT HAYNES! My husband & I are so sorry we ever saw their commercial on tv! We spent $3000.00 on dining room furniture that we really didn't even need, & to get damaged furniture that they won't replace (only "repair") just shocks us beyond belief! I sincerely hope that anyone thinking of buying from Haynes reads these references & goes elsewhere. We had 2 years to pay/ no interest & have almost paid it off in less than a year, but are stuck with damaged goods at full price! Repeated calls to customer service, & the store are a waste of time since they apparently have no employees to return calls. And there are quite a few other issues, which I may find time to address at another time, but the main shock is that Haynes can sell damaged furniture @ full price & not have to replace it! TERRIBLY SHOCKED !!!!! Hope this keeps "someone" from being ripped off!!

Description: Haynes furniture is not a company that seeks to provide customer service after the sale. My wife and I are now in the process of pulling hen's teeth in an effort to get the remaining four pieces of a special order of six pieces which was placed on October 15, 2005. Store management is more interested in putting us off or offering nothing of significance in an effort to find our furniture or secure replacements for the lost or damaged pieces. This has been a nightmare that will probably end up in court. Do not let the huge advertising budget and offers of no payments or no interest lure you into a no win situation with Haynes Furniture of Virginia.

Description: I paid for a bedroom set from Haynes which was delivered on the 7 January 2006. On 12 February I called Haynes and I spoke to a service representative named Amy. I explained to her that I was calling in regards to their 30-day Low-price Guarantee and that I wanted to speak to a manager to explain him or her that bedroom set I purchased was now being advertised for $7000.00 less on their store. She talked to the manager about my situation and she told me that he agreed to make the refund since it was within a reasonable time-frame. I recently called Haynes questioning the status of my refund and amazingly Amy said that they were not going to honor my claim, further more, she denied that I had ever spoken to her in regards to this matter. This is obviously a scheme they used to make me wait for a refund that would not come in order for my claim to seem outdated. I really hope that you can help me with this matter. Thank you very much.

Description: Yesterday, my husband and I went to Haynes Furniture to buy a house load of furniture under the sale and no payment til 2008 ad that was showing on television. When we got there we were not allowed to walk around the store on our own without being harassed. I understand that salespeople live on commission but this guy would not leave us alone to look around ourselves. We even told him we were going to look around and should we decide to purchase anything we would come find him. But instead of leaving us to our decision making, he followed us around the whole store trying to get us to buy every single piece of furniture we looked at for more than 10 seconds. He was even listening to everything I said to my husband! How annoying! We were a little more than upset after being told that we couldn't do the no payment til 2008 even though we did get accepted and have great credit. Our salesman asked us if we could put $2000-3000 down! Not only that but he then told us we'd might have to make small monthly payments! No way! We just up and left the store. They lost a lot of money that day as we were going to get a bedroom suite, livingroom set and diningroom set. We were looking at spending about $7500. On the way home we talked about how there was a reason that this had happened and now we know why! We decided to do a search online for different furniture stores and we came across this site. Now, I am so happy we didn't purchase anything from Haynes. Talk about a blessing in disguise! We'll be sure to take our money elsewhere and purchase from a store that doesn't hassle you while you browse and tells you to make payments and put money down when their TV commercials clearly state no payments til 2008. I also wanted to add that I agree with a previous compaint regarding Nebraska Furniture Mart. NFM is a top notch company with fantastic customer service and grade A products. We bought a freezer, washer and dryer and livingroom set from them when we lived in Nebraska and our stuff is still in great working condition! If you ever have a chance to buy there, you won't regret it.

Description: Haynes is currently making some very damaging commercials about Nebraska Furniture Mart, in Omaha Nebraska. We lived in Nebraska for 13 years, and, I hate to say it...Haynes Furniture should not even be mentioned in the same sentence with Nebraska Furniture Mart. Nebraska Furniture Mart is the largest furniture store in the world, but they treat every customer special. Every piece of furniture in my house, at one time, was purchased from that store. The owner at that time, Mrs. B, rode around on her Jazzy, and she would personally help customers!!! So, Haynes better be very careful about some statements that they are making about Nebraska Furniture Mart...Haynes cannot afford to get involved in any type of legal issues with NFM---Haynes would loose!!!

Description: My husband and I purchased a 3 piece living room set totaling about 2500.00 and we handed them the cash that day. We have had nothing but problems since then. The couch and chair were both ripped all down the back only to have them say we will send a technician to reupholstery it. Who buys brand new furniture to have someone fix it? If I wanted that I would have went to goodwill! We waited four months before someone actually came out to fix it. And only to find that our furniture was ripping apart in other places. We called customer service numerous times only to have none of our phone calls returned or to be told its not their problem. We finally went to the manager, who we thought was trying to work with us and was willing to send out a whole new set, which we figured that would be great. We have had 3 sets delivered since then with rips and tears throughout all 3 pieces and now the manager will not call us back. I would recommend never shopping here either,it is more trouble than it is worth and obviously their furniture is not as good as they say.

As long I was striking a check for my purchase - they were all "grins and giggles", but as soon I tried to voice my distress over the delivery or lack there of - everyone from the Saleswoman to the Customer Service Manager copped serious attitudes. Good Customer Service is definitely something that this company does not practice. I asked for the General Manager's Name, to no avail.... I wanted to voice my concerns to him .... Description: I have been a long time customer of Haynes Furniture even when your store was located in Hampton. Your record should show that over a period of time we have spent a quite a large sum of money with your organization. I purchased a Canted Oak Curio from your Newport News Store on 10 June 2007. After removing the item from the shipping container, I discovery the front door glass was broken. On the evening of 10 Jun 2007, I immediately notified your company of this incident. Your representative told me she would summit a work order to have the item repaired or replaced. Over a month later, I'm still waiting for that repair. I feel this is bad relation with customer that has been loyal to your company for over 30 years. While as an employee with the Federal Government, I have always giving high marks to your company to my fellow workers, neighbors and military that is processing in and seeking a reputable company to purchase furniture. After seen how your company operates and treats your customers, I can not continue to give your company high marks and I would be steering my counterparts in the wrong direction. Ones word is there bond and if I tell them what Haynes is a dependable company and your company breaks that word, my counterparts then would lose faith in my word. The bottom line, as I said before I was along time customer but never again will I spend another dime or market Haynes Furniture Store. James Turner

Description: Do not buy anything at Haynes. I have just sent my second letter to the President and here's hoping after almost 2 years, an agreement can be reached. Our love seat and sofa arrived in February 06 and I called immediately to report that the quality of furniture was not what I expected. It didn't matter, I owned it despite its defects, flaws, construction you name it. We were told to let a customer service tech visit to determine if what we bought is the same as what is on the show room floor. After I called the salesperson who sold it to us, she acted as if she didn't know me or care as she said it was no longer her responsibility but that a tech would be the deciding factor. It didn't matter if it did not meet our expectations of satisfaction. Since then, we have had countless visits by techs to no avail...even though they acknowledge the defects. They have replaced the seat cushion inserts because the original ones were sagging. The new ones sag worse. The material pills like an old sweater only after one month. The manufacturer at last agreed to send new covers only to discover that they don't make the material anymore and I was out of luck. After complaints about the back pillows, I was told to open the casings of the back pillows and pull the batting apart. I wait. I wait. Nothing. I will not give up. This is not right. Each day, my husband and I have to look at these sofas which we paid over $2500 for only to be reminded of our first mistake, trusting Haynes. Oh, did I tell you that we paid in full via a charge? There is so much more to this story that I would love to tell but the story is old and so is this furniture and I am praying that my second letter to the Haynes President will realize a final resolution. Not a first class act for sure! Lastly, and probably the only humor in the story is that the other day I was told that my warranty probably expired since the purchase date!!!!! YA THINK?

Description: I came across complaints from customers of Haynes, and was NOT surprised. We have bought several rooms of furniture and have not ONCE had half the professional treatment one would expect. From horrible sales people, to even worse delivery promises Haynes of Newport News just can't get it together. They seem to have no interest at all in customer appreciation. We actually elected to pick up a set of furniture for one of the rooms in our house and was told a time to do so and where we were to go. Yes, it was wrong information. We went through phone call after phone call, which took a bit over three weeks, to finally be told that we definetly could pick up the furniture 'for real' this time. We went, and they didn't have it ready - we'd have to go back. So we went back on the day they said it would be ready (mind you we called ahead) and - shock - only some pieces were ready for us to pick up. We ended up having to go back a third time and finally got the the remainder. I see that some employee of Haynes responded to one particular disatisfied customer by stating that customers must expect perfection. No, we just expect that you will not tell what turns out to be obvious lies, and that you show some small amount of empathy when the company mistreats customers. It works like this - we give you money, you give us our purchases according to the stipulations given by your sales person - no doubtedly told to the gullable customer to make the sale. I have several friends/family members who have had the same problems. After reading through other complaints, it cannot be a coincidence that Haynes is light years away from being a mediocure furniture store. You're better off with building your own furniture!

Description: I purchased furniture from Haynes in October, 2007. All of the furniture was delivered except for one piece. I was told that particular piece was on back order. I have called several times to find out when it will be delivered, and the salesperson keeps telling me different stories. It is now January, 2008, and I still have no idea when I will get the rest of my furniture. What amazes me about this whole ordeal is that there has been no initiation of contact from Haynes. I have called them to inquire on a regular basis but no one has called me to say that they apologize or to give me any updates. I am very disappointed with this Company and with the lack of professionalism in the way they handle their business. Once this issue is resolved, I will never deal with Haynes again.

Subject: Store NA
Description: I had already spent a large amount of money at Haynes of Va. Beach and was awaiting future furniture delivery when I noticed this website. After quite a few sleepless nights, delivery date arrived...and the experience I can now say was exceptionally wonderful from beginning to end. At the store, Jonathan was a pleasure to work with in assisting me to furnish a three bedroom condo. He was accessible and knowledgable, communicating with me on multiple dates as I completed my selection. The delivery date confirmation included a three hour window, which the truck arrival did honor...and the polite two-man crew treated my new furniture delicately, as they moved it in and set it up. I am so sorry that so many of the above posts had nightmarish stories to share, but thought it was important to share that I had a really good experience at Haynes of VA. Beach. Perhaps someone else who just found this site will sleep better than I did!!

Description: my wife and I shopping for a a new couch, went to several stores looking for a certain style and manufacture.after going from store to store and not finding what we were looking for we went to haynes. the salesman showed us what they had per our description what we wanted.we found what we wanted, and he said it was made by berkline just whatwe were looking for. great the price was marked $799.00 and on today only we can get 20%of the sale price in free merchandise of any thing in the store my wife picked out a candle stick set priced at $125.00. When we sit down to place order the salesman types everything up the free merchandise was listed as a sale. that brought the listed price of the couch down to $673.40 I picked up the couch that sat. as arranged when i get home it is the correct couch but no pillows as displayed and promised they came with couch . I,m looking at these tags that are factory applied to the sofa and it says the sofa is made by franklin. the following monday i,m on the phone 3 times that day getting the run around everytime.I go to store and talk same saleman he assures me he will take care of pillows and said he never told me the sofa was a berkline.a week goes by with no calls and no pillows well next sundays paper shows same couch at $699.00 on sale So I go back to store I find my salesman , he doesnt know any thing about our pillows and is confused why noone hasn,t called us . Subject: (Other) Military (and everyone else) Beware!!!
Description: This is a great website. Tells the Haynes story to a "T." My husband and I went shopping for a bedroom set for our daughter, among other things, at Haynes VA Beach. We were greeted (or attacked, I guess) when we walked in the door. The more time we spent with our salesperson, it became more and more evident how incredibly incompetent she was. She showed us around and ended up selling us the bedroom set. We let her know that we'd need to be at dinner (reservation) in an hour, and she replied that the transaction would take no longer than 15 minutes. An hour and a half later, after we'd missed our dinner, and after listening to her countless excuses about why she couldn't work the computer or credit card machine (new program, new credit card machine, she's new, she just started here), we were just about to leave the store. We had already chosen furniture for our den downstairs, and just had to complete that transaction. We had spent almost $2000 on our daughter's bedroom set, and wanted to stay under $1000 for the den furniture. When we let our livingroom salesperson know that, you would have thought we asked him to give us his commission for the week. He was rude, gave us like 2 choices, and couldn't wait to get us out of the store. When we asked about a set that had no price on it, he replied very arrogantly, "you won't be leaving with that furniture for the price you're wanting to pay." Personally, I'm glad we didn't spend more than $3500 in that store. We were told by the incompetent woman salesperson that she'd have our furniture delivered on the weekend (that's when we're off) and the furniture delivery people came on a Friday. We had to rush home because we were threatened with a $50 fee that we'd have to pay if they had to return. Now, it's 2 days later and my daughter's bedroom set is in her room in pieces because they forgot parts of it, and can't finish the assembly. When we called the store and spoke with a "manager" (by title only, and obviously not by action) we were told that they would be returning on Tuesday to finish assembly and that we'd need to make it work (where we could be present) or we'd be paying the $50 delivery fee again!!! It's not our fault that they forgot half of the bedroom set, so why are they returning to our home on another of our work days?! We're both active duty Marines and it's hard for us to "call in" or "take off" for a furniture delivery twice in a week. I will never shop at Haynes again, I thank God that He allowed us to learn this lesson without losing any more of our hard-earned dollars. We WILL let every Marine, Soldier, and Sailor who checks in at our base know that Haynes is a rip-off by design, that they have no return policy, no refund policy, and that the "warranty" which is also B.S. does NOT travel with you to your next duty station like they promised us it would. I plan to print out every complaint on this site and make copies to hand out to new military personnel and families as they check in as part of their "welcome aboard" packages! Thank you all for your honesty and for taking time to share your experiences. It will save my young military personnel from being ripped off by Haynes VA Beach!

Description: On february 15th Of 2009, we my daughter and i purchased a bunk bed set and a XXl recliner from Haynes Furniture Store on West Broad Street in Richmond, Va. We were told by the salesperson (mind you he was they only one who spoke to us in the whole store, that was why we choose him) that the slats to the beds were on back order but that they would be in on the 27th of the month. When they came in he would call and set up a delivery date with us. On the 28th, we called the store. To our surprised the sales person was not there and we were first told that he no longer worked there. On the phone the supposed manager stated we could come back in to reselect or get a refund. When we got to the store , we were in for a bigger shock, not only were the slats not in but the bed itself was now a discontinued item and they would not be getting the item at all. Also the new salesperson let it slip that nine(9) other buyers would be disappointed by this fact also. When asked why no one informed us of these new developments, we were then told that our "salesperson was out sick". When asked why no one followed up on his orders for clients, we were told that "Oh no... no one does that." ( Yep...Excuse me " , I couldn't believe that either ) And to finish this up, remember I said we purchased a XXl recliner also.. well that wasn,t in either . We were first told that it would be in on the 17th of the month , well in time for the delivery of the shipment of the slats for the bunk bed. Finally we were told that the recliner would now have a shipment date of March 2, and 21 of them would be coming and I would be welcomed to one of those. Now the bunk bed , we would not be getting and there were no others that we liked for a girl.. So we could get a refund , but the delivery charge for the whole purchase was $79 and. they not willing to lower the price for the to deliver the recliner. So we left the store with nothing.. Oh our refund would be refunded within 3 -5 business days.. Havent seen it yet. Hopefully we will soon.. Now the new salesperson was nice but the supposed manager whom we did not get to see told another salesperson to explain to us how the delivery dept was seperate from the store , so therefore they could charge whatever the wanted to for delivery. So no compensation for selling us the perfect bunkbed set that was discontinued, no apology for not getting in touch with us about such and i believe they sold the recliner and were just waiting for the new shipment to come in. And to top it all off they were so nonchalant about the whole situation as if it were and everyday occurrence.. ..No more shopping at this store. I am stil looking for the perfect bunkbed set for my 3 yr old granddaughter and the perfect recliner for her grandmother.

Description: Three years ago in June 06 Steve and Nancy Herrington went into Haynes Brother Furniture in Ormond Beach, to pick out new furniture for a home we were currently building. Steve and Nancy picked out a bedroom set for master bedroom, living room furniture and dining room furniture. Floyd was our salesman. After our selection we put 10,000.00 down on a credit card (GE money bank), which was applied for at Haynes. That day Steve also showed me a bedroom set he would like for our 2-year-old son. With Floyd standing with us I said, “No way in hell would I buy that set for a child.” Floyd the salesman said,” I’m sure this set is discontinued.” That was the end of discussion on the disputed bedroom furniture that day. The next couple of months Steve Herrington was in the store about 10 times, getting exact measurements on our selected items, inquiring about patio furniture and changing a round coffee table to a smaller square table. During this period that Steve came to the store Floyd asked Steve, “What about the furniture for your boy?” Steve said to Floyd “see if it’s still available and get me prices. (due to the fact Floyd said it was discontinued). Nothing else was mentioned on this bedroom set, ever. Steve and/or Nancy Herrington never discussed with Floyd or anyone else at Haynes store about the cost on this bedroom set or even what items were included in the set. We never agreed to or even signed to buy the bedroom set!!! Steve and Nancy Herrington always knew that our balance for what furniture we picked out was $ 19,000.00, and 10,000.00 down payment, for a total of $ 29,000.00 In Dec.08 we moved into our home and needed just the master bedroom set in which I put on our Bank of America credit card for $ 4,830.70 On Feb.26, 09 Steve went in to Haynes store to put the balance for the living room and dining room furniture on My Chase card. Steve Herrington calls me and said “We can put the balance on another GE money with 0 payment for 12 month. I said fine. 20 minuets later a women from Haynes called and said, “ we need your Chase Credit card number” I (Nancy Herrington) said I thought the balance was all going on one Chase card? A Haynes office women said, “ I don’t know what’s going on I walked in on the middle of this.” I gave her the Credit Card Number due to the fact I assumed the GE card was a no go. Steve gets home late, I asked him, ”when is the furniture coming?” Steve says Saturday. Friday Steve goes on a fishing trip at 5 the next morning, we did not discuss furniture. Saturday Feb.28, 09 when the furniture came Steve informed me we did get the GE card. I told Steve to call Floyd at Haynes and see what is going on. Floyd never returned the call. The next day, Sunday March 1st , 09 we went to Haynes to straiten the mess up about the GE card (I figured Haynes Store forgot we put ten thousand down on the GE Card in 2006), and to let them know we got two bar stools and three dining room chairs that do not fit and would like to exchange for other items. When we got to the Haynes store, Floyd was about to leave informing us it was his day off. Steve and Floyd talked and Floyd went behind the counter. Floyd proceeded to tell us, “You have more furniture coming”, Steve and I asked “Uh What?” Floyd walked us over to this bedroom set and I told Floyd, “there is no way that is going to fit in our house! “ Then we asked, what did we supposedly buy in this set and when did we buy this set? Floyd said an amour, King bed, dresser, night table and a mirror. I again said ,the set would not fit in our home. Floyd instructed us we need to talk to the owner of the furniture store, Steve Haynes. Steve Haynes said, “that there was absolutely nothing he could do, that your husband wanted this furniture”. Haynes told us he would personally come to our home and move our furniture around to make this fit and to put a few pieces in one room and a few in another room. Haynes also said, “ I had to purchase this $ 14,000.00 from another distributor and they will not buy this set back.” Steve Haynes also said “do what you have to do!!!” Steve Herrington asked “ I would like to see where I signed for the furniture. Floyd tells Steve he ordered the bedroom set in June 06. Steve Haynes also said he would have us take a lie detector tests to prove Steve Herrington did want the bedroom furniture. I then Yelled, Shut up to Steve Haynes, Steve Haynes said, “Ok I’m done with you people” I yelled, We never bought that furniture and we never wanted it. Steve Haynes storms outside where he has a tent sale going on. Steve and Nancy proceed to leave, Nancy stops the truck and rolled down window tells Steve Haynes again “the furniture does not even fix in our sons bedroom.” Steve Haynes says roll up your window and keep going. Steve or Nancy Herrington did not buy or want this furniture; this furniture never got delivered to our home. It’s at the store where it belongs. We now find that we paid twice for the furniture we ordered back in 2006. Once on chase card and also on the GE Money card.

Description: When Haynes says 'free', beware. Nothing is 'free' from Haynes, and that includes delivery. You end up sitting there, usually on a day you had to take off from work, waiting for your purchases to come. If you are one of the lucky few that gets their items delivered as promised, good for you. Can I borrow you lucky rabbits foot? For the rest of us, it's wasted time. First it starts in the store, with the sales person, who is talking like they run the delivery department. Making it sound so easy and convienent. Then you get a call from the delivery department with your computer assigned delivery time window. This can not be changed. The computer formulated this time. Therefore, any consideration to your time constraints are not to be considered. Then the day of the scheduled delivery comes. You are in the last 30 minutes of your 3 to 4 hour window. Then before you know it, no delivery. What are you going to do? Nothing. If you call Haynes, they will blame the delivery department. If you contact the delivery department, they will give you the run around. You will have to suck it up, try to contact someone at the delivery department, and get 're-scheduled'. Forget about how valuable your time might be. I can't believe Haynes is still able to operate in this fashion. Once they get your money, you are at their mercy. In this economy that we are living in today, you would think that more emphasis would be put on customer satisfaction. But, I guess if you have gotten away with it this long, why change?

Description: I purchased a bedroom suit and mattress from Haynes Furniture. On delivery day, Thursday, we had the room clear and ready for the new furniture to be set up. The delivery people assembled the furniture and brought in the new mattress. After they left, we realized the mattress was not the one we bought. We called immediately. Our salesman, D. M., admits he keyed in the wrong item number. We asked that the problem be corrected on Friday/Saturday so no one would have to miss more work waiting on another delivery. He said that should be okay and it would probably be Saturday. He would look into it and call me back that evening. I had the phone with me at all times and never got that call. The next morning we found out that Mr. M. had arranged for the correct mattress to be delivered the following Thursday. He didn't notify me I assume because he knew that would not be satisfactory to me. On Friday morning I spoke with the store manager, G. T., who told me they only deliver to this area on Thursday. I understand this when you are talking about a new purchase, but when resolving a problem they caused I feel they need to make it convenient for me NOT THEM. We did our part and accommodated their "Thursday only" delivery and they messed up. Although they acknowledge that it is their mistake, it is my problem. In order not to be stuck with what I feel is a far inferior mattress for premium money (possibly their goal) more time from work must be missed and more money lost on our part. In my opinion, when they mess up they need to fix it asap whether it be by hiring an outside contractor and a UHaul or having their own delivery people make a special extra run...I don't care! My resolution is a Friday/Saturday fix or they can pick everything up and give me my money back. Haynes Furniture will do neither of those and I am left with no recourse except to take what they offer and deal with it. I am left with a very bad feelings toward Haynes Furniture and a vow to NEVER shop there again!!! From here out, my suggestion to anyone looking to buy furniture is to buy it anywhere except Haynes Furniture!

Description: We purchased a Monet sofa at The Dump in Atlanta and the Guardsman kit for leather furniture. We went to pick up the couch and noticed that it wasn't the color we had purchased. It was mismarked by the manufacturer. We went back in to get our debit card credited for the almost $800 and were told that they only issue checks for debit card purchases. We agreed to this and are still waiting for our check. It has been 4 weeks. I called last week and was told that this was their policy and they were not able to return the monies to the card--their bank wouldn't allow it. I reminded the customer service person (who was, indeed, very nice) that they can do this at all kinds of other retail stores, so I know it is possible. We went to the store, as advised by the customer service rep, and were told that there isn't a business office in the store. After the holiday, the corporate office will be hearing from me! Poor business practice.

Subject: Company tile installation
Description: In March 2006 Michele Desgain of Haynes Furniture in Outer Banks NC submitted a proposal for a 4000 s.f. tile job in construction of our new home. She assured us that the tile (which she had suggested to us) was sufficiently durable to withstand in our rental home and that the tile installer was “good”. Before the house was opened for rental and before we settled on the house on July 3, 2006 Inspector Al Chelsey from A closer Look performed the home inspection for us and noted “somewhat uneven tiles, most notable ground floor left rear room.” In addition we noted tipped edges, which posed a tripping hazard; discolored tiles which did not match the lot; and broken, chipped and dented tiles. On or about July 6, 2006, Desgain inspected the tiles and instructed the original tile installer Anthony of One Floor at a Time to replace problematic tiles. Although there were a few remnant tiles from the original installation, there were insufficient tiles to complete the repairs and Desgain had to order new tiles to complete the replacement installation. On or about August 8, 2006, Anthony and crew began replacing the problem tiles. In removing the problem tiles, the tile crew caused additional damage to “good” tiles. After reviewing the additional replacement tiles ordered by Desgain, Anthony advised that he could not complete the job because the new tiles were the incorrect size. On or about August 13, 2006, a representative from Atlantic Flooring inspected the work and reported that installation had not been done properly. This inspection was done at the request of us. At this time we suspended additional remediation efforts until after the summer rental season in order to mitigate losses. On or about March 19, 2007, tile installer Michael Olivento (“Olivento”) sent from Haynes met with us at the house. During this meeting, Olivento revealed that he received very little information from Haynes in preparation for the installation job and believed a) that only a small area of the floor required replacement tiles and b) that the tiles to be replaced were in contiguous pattern. At this time Olivento raised concerns about problems associated with extracting and replacing individual tiles. Additional issues are raised when the replacement tiles are revealed to be the incorrect size and color. We did not have him perform any repairs and notified Haynes as such. On or about May 21, 2007, tile installer Carlos DeLira (“DeLira”) arrived at the house and expressed similar concerns as to those expressed by Olivento; specifically, that the job was far larger and complex than had been explained to him by Haynes. DeLira explained that he believed that he was to replace contiguous tiles in a small area. He further explained that the replacement tiles were 1/16” (one-sixteenth) to 1/8” (one-eighth of an inch) too large and that the grout lines would be “crowded” due to the size of the new tiles. DeLira stated that trimming the tiles would cause the edges to chip and that although he would do the installation work, he would not be held responsible for any future problems associated with the tiles or the installation DeLira toured the remainder of the house and reported that the tiles were not durable as they were “low-grade,” despite having been described by Desgain as being of sufficient quality to withstand the wear and tear of a high volume rental house. He further commented that several discolored tiles should not have installed at all. Finally, DeLira reported that this house was the fourth job that he had been called to repair and/or replace the work completed by Anthony. DeLira advised that the floors in the other houses discussed had been completely replaced. Because of the variety of issues raised by DeLira, we chose not to have the tiles repaired or replaced by DeLira at that time. On or about May 2006 Jack Barnes from Island tile preformed an inspection on the tile and installation and reported: 1. The workmanship was of an amateur 2. The attempt to repair the downstairs was done with better workmanship but there was a size and dye lot issue 3. Mid-level layout of the tile began out of square 4. High joist in mid-level resulting in dips in the tiles with no attempt to float this area 5. Upstairs in the top floor had metal cut short in areas and appeared to be an unprofessional job. On or about November 5, 2007, DeLira returned to repair and/or replace the tiles. We advised him to begin work on the ground floor, which they would review upon completion before deciding how to proceed. After DeLira finished setting and grouting the tiles on the ground floor, it was apparent to all that the new tiles did not match in color or finish. Additionally, although DeLira attempted to compensate for surface irregularities, several tiles were not level. We asked DeLira not to complete the job. DeLira offered to grout to chipped tiles on all floors. We accepted his offer and ask him to do so in the most egregious instances. You may wonder why we continued to allow them to try to replace the tiles when the tile lot and size was off and we knew this early on. We were told by legal counsel and BBB that as long as they made attempts to repair we had to allow them even though we told Haynes repeatedly by letter and by discussions that if they couldn't get replacement tile that matched in size and color their repair attempts were not satisfactory. Now we have started to replace tile at our own expense because the breaking continues. Even when Haynes was presented with demolition pictures from April 2010 that showed that the spacing of the screws were more than 8” apart (ex: only one screw to anchor the hardibacker board in the dishwasher area); in places the thinset didn’t even adhere; and there was no thinset/mortar between the subfloor and hardibacker board Haynes has refused to rectify the situation. We went back to the BBB July 19, 2010 and they have closed our case and in doing so it lets Haynes A+ rating stand. I told Valerie Butts at the Hampton Roads BBB that that doesn’t seem fair to the consumer, this skewed data. I even asked to get detailed BBB reports of Haynes complaints which they would not provide. We have spent $43,958 on the original purchase and installation, lost rents (for time off the market for repair attempts) and legal fees. We are facing $30,000-$40,000 to demolish and replace tile (some is on concrete). Haynes has systematically spent more money on defending their reputation so that their A+ rating will stand than do right by the consumer. Remember we were told by one of their repair installers that we were the 4th job that he had been asked to repair. Seems that Haynes had evidence all along that our installation was not done right. Finally as a side note we also spent in excess of $70,000 at Haynes to furnish this house and that they had the chutzpah to say in a letter to our lawyer that they were only attempting the repairs because “we were a valued customer”!

Description: HAYNES Furniture does not stand behind what they sell. They will tell you anything to sell you something and not stand behind their product. They are ok with selling something that is not quality and not standing behind it. I purchased a recliner from Haynes, 5 months down the road with minimal use the cushion is worn down and the wood that is meant to support the back has pushed against my spine to where it has hurt my spine and I cannot physically sit in a chair that was supposed to be made for comfort. They sent a repair man out and he stuffed it full of foam so now what was poking me in my spine is poking me in my behind. I was told by the second repairman that came out, it is the way the chair is designed, nothing they can do about that. So the sales person that told me this was one of the best was misinformed? The best part of this whole story is that I was told by their Customer Service Rep that THEY DO NOT WARRANTY COMFORT so if after 5 months of use your recliner that you purchased for comfort is not comfortable because there is a board poking your spine, it's just the way the manufacture designed it and it's not covered.
