We shop at Food Lion at least 2 or 3 times a week.  We spend at least $150.00 a week or more. Some of the employees at this store are more concerned with stocking the shelves, bringing in the carts, taking a break, or looking at the clock to see when they can clock out.  Every time we go, there are never enough cashiers.  Even the express lane is closed sometimes, especially early in the mornings.  The cashiers, especially the younger ones, never say hello, or thank you.  The manager of this store really needs to get a grip on things or take some more training classes on how to manage lazy, carefree employees.  You probably wonder if we are so unhappy why we don't shop somewhere else? That is the problem with this world today.  We shouldn't have to change where we shop, which is convenient for us.  This supposedly great company "Food Lion", should take better care of the customers.  The customer should always come first!!!  Times may be changing, but the good old customer service should not.

I, too (along with almost everyone in town) feel the same way about Food Lion. I have even emailed Food Lion's Main office about the inherent lack of concern for their customers. My biggest gripe is the poor inventory control. Food Lion is continuously out of items I have learned to like and complaining to the manager doesn't seem to have any effect. If a vendor such as a bread man used the same poor inventory control as the local FL manager, He wouldn't be with his company long. I'm sick of it all. I don't have the same problem when I shop at another FL store. We were much better off with the old IGA store.

As for all of the complaints about Food Lion from customers, I'd just like to say that they're all correct! I should know! I work there! What you have is terrible management, absolutely no training in anything (ESPECIALLY CUSTOMER SERVICE; I've been with the company four years, and I'll tell you, not one manager that I have had gives a @$#% about customer service). The reason there are no cashiers or express lane is because the company refuses to allow enough hours to schedule people to help the customers. They're more worried about lining their pockets than stocking the stores with employees. So customers wait in long, slow lines while managers and stockers watch their own backs to fill shelves and maintain their departments so that they don't catch heat with the higher management. So meanwhile, the rudeness and incompetence continues! So keep complaining! But nothing will change until the business starts hurting!!! And remember: this is coming from an employee!!!

My problem with Food Lion (Sneads Ferry) is they always seem to be out of the MVP (sale) items. It doesn't seem to matter what department it's in, meat, dairy, caned goods, cleaning supplies. pet food, health supplies, deli etc. BUT they always seem to have a great supply of a more expensive brand of the same thing. This is one of (or the) biggest Food Lion's in the area. Will they ever get a clue? To be fair, you can get a "rain check" on these items, if you have the time, but when there is a long line at the register or you are in a hurry (as a lot of us seem to be) it is a real hassle, besides, it is one more piece of paper to keep up with and one more thing to remember.
