Just a few notations to all comments left above. I'm
an employee with food lion and have been for 8 years. I started as a bagger
and now I'm a department manager. I will ask you some questions now and
answer them honestly. When you go to a fast food chain do they say thank
you? When you pump your own gas do they say thank you? When you go to a
restaurant do they say thank you? The answer to all of these questions are
no. Unfortunately we live in a society where kids or punks are in a lot of
Customer Service roles. They don't have any manners or morals. I'm 25 and I
was brought up to say "Yes Ma'am" and "No Sir". But don't hold that against
a company hold that against parents and how there raised. Thank you

Advocate's Comment:
Maybe I'm just getting old, but in a civilized society,
It Is the business' responsibility to satisfy the customer. Not
to make allowances for rude, crude or otherwise in-appropriate behavior of
the employees of that business. Regardless of the situation, poor parenting
is not an excuse to simply overlook the behavior and/or lack of morals in an
employee. If an employee is not performing his/her duties, and/or not being
polite to the customer, that employee should be replaced by one who will.
Every employee is an "Ambassador" of the company. Although, I'll agree that
it can be difficult and time consuming to interview prospective employees,
It Is managements job to assure that all employees; 1) do
their job as prescribed, 2) greet the public as courteously as if their job
depended on it. . --

SNEADS FERRY, NC -- We
began to receive some feedback on Oct 15th, from the current manager of the
Sneads Ferry Food Lion, Mr. Scott Brinson, a Sneads Ferry native. He is
aware of the majority of the problems, and with some time and patience, he
is doing his best to solve the ones that are solvable. Some of the problems
are directly attributable to the Food Lion Corporate office and distribution
centers.
One of the biggest complaints that we hear are about the
empty shelves for MVP items, this is a result of Food Lion Corp deciding on
the items and the distribution center Not Having the Stock to fill the
stores' orders, a corporate issue, frustrating to consumers, but not the
store managers fault. Perhaps an extra tag with "Temporarily Out Of Stock
- See Clerk for 'Rain Check'", would dispel a lot of hard feelings.
As for the Attitudes of some of the staff, I have been
assured by Mr. Brinson that this issue is also going to be remedied.

We have also been contacted on Oct 18 by District
Supervisor, Mr. Chris Whaley, of Jacksonville, NC. The problems experienced
by customers in the past are coming to a end. Rain checks are available for
any out of stock item.
Any Problem You May Experience at Food Lion, Do Not Take
It Home, Address the issues with the Store Manager before you leave.
Both of the gentlemen that I spoke with really want you to have a pleasant
experience at Food Lion Stores. If you are not satisfied with the resolution
offered by the store manager, you can contact the district supervisor,
(email addresses are in process), and/or corporate customer service, or
again address the issue here, and we will try to get it resolved.
